College Prowler Take
In appraising CMU, most students are appreciative of the fantastic education they’re receiving and the one-of-a-kind experience that the campus offers. At CMU, students have an unprecedented opportunity to explore their fields of study. Sometimes it’s hard for students to see all opportunities that Carnegie Mellon gives them. Students who are unhappy with their experience are often frustrated with the sub-par social situation or the massive amount of work. No matter how fed up students get with the amount of work, the social scene, or the bad weather, students are often glad they came to CMU when they think about the unique experience the school has given them. The academic opportunities you will receive at CMU are astounding, and everyone on campus is truly dedicated to learning. Though the time spent at CMU may not fulfill some students’ hopes of living a wild youth, the years spent at Carnegie Mellon can be just as exciting in some ways. It’s different. And for people who don’t want the same college experience as everyone else, it can be exciting.

Carnegie Mellon is very rigorous and academically demanding. I knew that when I decided to come to school here, but I don't think I really understood the sacrifices that I would need to make in order to do well at CMU. Now that I am in my sophomore year, I have come to see that the quality of education is well worth the daily challenges that students face. I am constantly inspired by my classmates and do not regret deciding to come to school here.

I wish my school was in another city—Pittsburgh is not as exciting as they sell it to students. The weather made me depressed for a long time. I guess if I were to choose again, I would not come here because of Pittsburgh and the general CMU social life.

It's a great school, and the people are so weird but have a lot of great things to offer. I've had so many bizarre yet deep conversations with people I've just met.

I would definitely come here again if I could do it over. My first semester was pretty rough because I didn't know how to draw the line between time to party and time to study. Now in my second semester, I feel like I have gotten a better handle on my time distribution.

My experience has been very up and down. At times, I would definitely do something else if I was given another chance., but I have had some experiences that are completely invaluable. Lots of kids have rough first semesters in college. Overall it's a great place, if it fits your personality well.
