College Prowler Take
Public transportation is the only way to travel for most students. Every student gets free access to the bus system, and most students take full advantage of this. Pittsburgh, as a city, is spread out among a number of distant areas. To get to most of these places, you’ll need to take the bus, especially since driving can get a little confusing. Though it sometimes can be a pain to wait 50 minutes for a bus that doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to come, off-campus life would be crippled without the bus system. It only takes a few weeks to learn the bus system, and once you’ve familiarized yourself with it, you’re golden. Your CMU bus pass is your key to exploring all areas of the city. The PAT buses are some of the cleanest and safest around.

It’s very convenient. CMU gives you stickers for access to the buses and as many rides as you can think of. Buses are a pain sometimes, because they’re often late, but there are no major problems. You can get basically anywhere with them with some patience. |

It can take you where you need to go; you just need to know the schedule. You pay for it as part of your student fees, anyway, so you might as well use it. |

You can’t catch a cab by flagging them down, but you can call them up and hope they’ll arrive on time. Buses are easy to catch during the day. I say get a car, a fast one! |

Public transportation is great. It’s better than the shuttle bus that the campus provides. You can ride as many times as you’d like as long as you have your ID. |
