There are many different kinds of people at CNU. Many foreign exchange students come from Aisa and all over. We have a soccer team that is 90% from other countries. People from different economic backgrounds come too, they are known for financially helping people out so different kinds of people can come.

Health & Safety:
We have the best security around. I have never felt unsafe, they go above and beyond to make sure that we are safe. It is a small campus so it is not hard to keep under control but they do very well. There is pretty much never any campus crime, I have never heard of any actually. They sends texts and emails out if any weird unusual stuff is happening or the weather is getting crazy. They have a good relationship with the police too

Parking is not so bad for us, we have a lot of spots by the dorms, you just have to get them on the weekends when everyone leaves. Its hard to find a spot by most buildings if you come during prime hours of the school day and are just driving around, but it only takes 12 minutes to walk across campus so its not a bad things to park far away from your classes. Some dorms have better parking close to them, but over all its not bad at all.

The dining hall is okay on most days. Usually everyone just gets tired of the food. There is always a good salad bar and pizza but the main courses are lacking most days. The deserts are the best around! They require an unlimited meal plan your first year, you really do not need it unless you wake up for breakfast every morning, but who does that these days? There is a lot of fast food around campus if you do not get a meal plan. Also there are two places on campus besides the main dining hall that you can buy food or use your ID that has preloaded money on them. Those two places are very good.

Our campus security is very strict for our safety. Drinking and drugs are not tolerated because we are a Christian institution. Visitation is strictly enforced, and so is parking.

Weather is usually pretty nice here. However, when it snows, classes hardly ever get cancelled unless the snow is very deep. We get weather alerts sent to our phones and e-mails by our security team.

Friendly environment but not much of a social life.

Carson-Newman University is surrounded by a very safe and welcoming community.

I received over half the amount the university required in financial aid, however, this is a private university and is very expensive. I will have to use loans to get the rest of the cost to attend this school.

The soccer team is not very good at all. Football is average. Every other sport is about average or below.

I do not participate in clubs, parties, or any kind of nightlife.

I received a good amount of of scholarships but the paperwork was a headache at times. Overall it was worth the hassel for the amount of aid I was rewarded.

Good athletic department. Nice work out area. Athletic department personnel always willing to help.

Overall, this is a great school to be at if you are interested in a real education. Not much partying on campus, those who want to go to Knoxville. You have to earn chapel credits, but only 10 a semester. They are called CLWs now and they make it possible to get all 10 without going to a religious event. The people are almost always very nice. Class sizes are very small (bigger your first year, especially if you are majoring in Business or Biology). I am a music major so my classes have less than 20 people in them. The teachers really care about your success. They will know you by name and honestly want to know about you, not just your homework. There is a huge sense of community here. We have about 2000 students. The classes are hard, but not impossible. There are free study sessions led by other students who have already aced the class you're trying to pass. The campus is also very safe. Hardly any crime at all, save the occasional car vandalism, which has only happened two or three times in my 3 years as a student. I am open to answer any questions anyone has about C-N.

I have never seen any evidence of drug use or alcohol on campus. I have never been peer pressured to use drugs or alcohol on campus. C-N is a very safe school.

Jefferson City has a small town kind of feel to it. This creates a close knit group of people who attend the school, but there is very little to do outside of the college. I'm pretty sure without the college, Jefferson City would be gone within a few years.

I am a finance major, and I am reasonably happy with my schools major program. Most of the professors that are on staff are great but some of the professors they bring in for certain classes make it their goal to make that class as hard as they can. The sad thing is they bring in part time professors for a lot of classes, so they definitely need more instructors in my major.

Campus security will give tickets for about anything and they do not tolerate drugs or drinking at all. They do not give grace to anyone and there are no warning offenses, the first time brings the punishment.

As a finance major, internships can be a great way to get familiar with people or companies you will be working with and making connections in the business world. Pay varies greatly and type of work is also different with each internship. The work is usually not very important but the knowledge you learn and the connections you make are priceless.
College Sophomore 2013-06-24T15:22:20Z
I had no trouble at all getting into the finance major program. I did not have to apply for any outside programs or do any extra work or applications. I simply decided on finance as my major and notified my advisor, then began taking classes in that area.

some dorms are not that nice. Things need to be updated with how things are with these dorm rooms. The housing process was a really good process and was easily moved in. The cost of the dorms was not really in looking condition for what the price is.

Everyone accepts you for who you are and know that everyone comes from different walks of life and no one is perfect. And everyone has chances to be friends with everyone.

The financial aid office is really helpful and knowledgeable with what they work with. And help you get all of the aid you can get to help get an education.

Douglas lake is near to the campus, where some students go sometimes. This school is pretty close to the city of Knoxville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
