Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Not “How big are varsity sports on campus?,” but “Sports?” seems to be the more accurate question. Although Case is a Division III school, it would be safe to say that its student body too often acts like it, with a few exceptions when our teams start winning. Despite the lack of support of our athletes and the athletic department, a good percentage of the student body is involved in varsity and non-vartsity sports. Intramurals, on the other hand, tend to overflow with participants in certain areas. HOTY, the Hall of the Year competition motivates fierce inter-residence-hall competition in Intramural Championships which win residence halls a certain number of points and cash prizes.

If for no other reason than school spirit, athletes should be given the honor and recognition for maintaining their athleticism and regular physical activity and pushing their limits in competition—all admirable practices to maintain as a busy student. Intramurals are open to anyone that wants to play anytime and often on short notice—many freshmen begin to realize that a late-night game of water polo or volleyball could be just the right thing to kill the insomnia or motivate a power-study sunrise session.

Pretty Good

Sports aren't such a big deal at Case as if you were to go to a Division 1 school. However, there is still support for the team and football/soccer games draw especially large crowds. The teams are usually pretty good and the school is always having events to try to get people more involved in school spirit

Athletes Are Dedicated

When you're in a school that is geared mainly towards education like Case is, you can't expect to have a lot of athletics. And you don't, but the people who do sports are very dedicated and love it. I am the president of the Tae Kwon Do club and, to be honest, it's a pain in the neck to go to practices, but the people who show up are energetic and hardworking. It's a fantastic atmosphere.

Support the Spartans

I've never been a big fan of football, but our football team is very good! For the past few years they have remained undefeated! The Case football team is definitely something to look out for in the fall.
