Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Except for a very few, Case students feel spoiled with the high-tech and readily available array of facilities and student resources. Students have various complaints about the student center, where others are more than satisfied. The libraries are the apple of the undergraduate student’s eye. Case’s two most often-used libraries are the Kelvin Smith Library and the Health Center Library are both beyond the average undergraduate’s comprehension as to the volumes of usefulness contained therein, the resourcefulness of which slowly and beautifully becomes apparent over the writing of many lab reports, papers, and defenses. The area of contention for some students, Thwing Student Center, houses many student groups including most of the media organizations, CASE Student Government, an elegant ballroom, several meeting rooms, the University bookstore, a few restaurants, and many lounge areas. With an ancient weight room and drab cardio room, Veale is easily the most disappointing facility on campus.

It’s hard to imagine the access to better equipment and resources for undergraduates getting any better, but they do. The Master Plan, the map, strategy and design for a campus-makeover has been unveiled in its entirety over the past couple of years and among new dorms and parking garages, the Plan portends of an even better student center than our current one.

Housing

I lived in CWRU housing all four years and thought it was awesome. Freshman dorms are the same as any college, not great, but definitely livable. After that, housing is great. Living in the Village at 115 was wonderful. AC, full beds in single rooms, full kitchens- all surrounding the football field. Makes it very convenient to to meet friends to study or party. I wouldn't have traded living in the village for anything.

Campus Aesthetics

Case has a very pretty and unique campus. There are a lot of modern art installations on campus, and a few of the buildings are modernistic, too. When the weather is nice, there are often weddings on campus.

Most Facilities Are Adequate

There was enough of everything that you needed from the school itself. However, depending on where you live, it became a pain to get to certain facilities like the gym or the student center. The worst problem was the lack of a pharmacy near campus.

Favorite Things To Do

All without leaving the a one-and-a-half-mile radius from the center of campus, you could work-out at the gym, eat a delicious Middle Eastern meal, sip carrot juice or a smoothie, see a $3 new movie or a $7 independent film, see a world-class art museum, hear a world-class orchestra, surf the web at lightning-speed, watch a game of Spartan football, soccer, or ultimate Frisbee, buy all of your text books, see a modern dance performance or a student play, and enjoy a cup of fair trade coffee. And when you’re all done, you can stroll down to the famous and historic (and inexpensive) Alcazar Hotel where your parents just arrived to stay for the weekend and tell them all about your day.
