College Prowler Take
Off-campus parties and frat parties are student favorites, especially for students not of drinking age. The most convenient club and bar location is Coventry, but many students, owners of legal and non-legal IDs, expand their horizons to downtown Cleveland. For a 20-minute, $20 cab ride, Case students can hit up the Flats and the Warehouse District in downtown Cleveland, although the area doesn’t really cater to college students. As for the raging weekend-long party scene, there is naught to mention. But Cleveland is by no means as young-person friendly as other large cities such as New York or Chicago. The nightlife scene is not geared toward college students so most students find entertainment and nightlife nearer to campus. Students who come to Case have an understanding prior to enrollment, that Case is almost the farthest thing from a party school. Those without this understanding have been known to either acquire a renewed appreciation for studiousness, or to have become transfer students. That is not to say that there are no parties at Case, they’re just not as numerous as, say, the number of students that at any given time are playing Warcraft. Social interaction comes in many forms here, nightlife in its purest, rowdiest form does not happen to be one of them. The bottom line is that if you’re looking for social stimulations, you’ll find it. If you’re waiting for it to find you, look into downloading Warcraft.

Parties on campus can be fun dry or wet. Most of the people drink responsibly when alcohol is present so that parties tend to be a good social outlet and typically don’t get too wild. |

Well, there’s actually a bar on campus. Every Wednesday night is ‘Spot Night’ where there is always some main attraction, usually a band or a comedian. People over twenty-one can drink and the beer is cheap. If you aren’t twenty-one but you make a couple friends, and you can still drink. That’s the way college works. |

The Flats is all right with clubs—basically you can only go Thursday night if you’re underage, except sometimes there are too many girls who look like they’re 15. |

I’ll warn you: if you are used to...
I’ll warn you: if you are used to big-city clubbing, you might be disappointed by Cleveland nightlife. My roommate is from Boston and she said our clubs are too ‘laid back.’ I like the Spy Bar and the Funky Buddha personally. They get an older crowd. The Jungle is very popular, but it’s eighteen-and-over, so you have to deal with dippy high schoolers. |

The city closed most of the good...
The city closed most of the good bars that are close to campus, because they didn’t card at all. The Flats is a little seedy, but the clubs are fun and usually lax about carding. The Warehouse District is a little more upscale, but it is twenty-one-and-over and spots are pretty strict. |
