College Prowler Take

Case is best-suited for self-motivated, goal-oriented students with a firm grasp on reality. Most students have professional aspirations and a solid idea where they want to be in 10 years. Students tend to be very content with the level of academics and research and learning opportunity. The largest amount of concern from students comes from issues such as social atmosphere and male-female ratio. Students are mostly very happy with their professors and the facilities and resources available for students.

People are wired and “connected,” but often very out-of-touch at the same time. It is often interesting to speculate about what cultural analysts from the future would say about the culture on the Case campus. Few students questioned expressed a concern for the amount of student involvement in University or students development or described any need for change in the relationship between departments or between students of different schools within Case. The Case campus offers freedom, and the city of Cleveland affords opportunities; students have the option to carve out their own niche. Case can be a school to fit the plans and aspirations of any ambitious and intelligent student in virtually any field. Its reputation as a place of endless research and learning opportunity is duly owned.

Never ever ever come to Case! This school sucks. Big mistake coming here. There is literally nothing to do ever. The people are just mindless drones who only care about academics and nothing else. The food here is disgusting. The city of Cleveland sucks since its so dangerous and the weather is depressing. Insect infestations everywhere. Classes are harder than necessary. Most professors are very judgemental and generally unwilling to help. Too many foreign professors for the important classes or grad students. Basically coming here is a waste of time and money since its not worth it at all

Well, I like Case in certain ways. Generally, the social life is boring but that made me find interesting friends and find fun things to do in the city. I had a blast my four years but I had to make that happen. It is not easy and is very much dependent on the kind of people you make for friends.

I really love Case in many ways but dislike it in others. The profs are great, there are a wide variety of classes and the people are nice, but often too shy. My main complaint, being a guy, is that there is a real lack of attractive women who have a good head on their shoulders. There are tons of jobs on campus and off campus—on campus minimum wage is over $8 an hour! Many people complain that Case is somewhat expensive, but there is plenty of money to found here if you know the right people. Case’s diversity never ceases to amaze me and I really enjoy the conversations that can be had.

It’s ironic that, despite having one of the most technologically integrated campuses in the world, the majority of students and faculty remain painfully disjointed. This creates a campus that doesn’t quite live up to its potential, but which has so much opportunity and possibility that any independent self-motivated student would find this place attractive.

Case students are uniquely independent and succeed on many different levels and in many different ways. The academics are unquestionably good, but a general lack of spirit and prevailing get-in-and-get-out attitude makes it difficult for student leaders and students interested in areas other than their major to make any changes. The college experience for many Case students has little more meaning than to study. Though this makes perfect grounds for massive change over the years, it can be very frustrating for dynamic and ambitious leaders.
