Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There is no simple way to describe the food at Catholic University. On one hand, it is convenient and abundant, and students with a meal plan can eat as many times as they want for however long and as much as they want. The quality, however, is another story. There is no accuracy when it comes to the quality of food at the University, where the eggs are bland and the chicken tends to feel like rubber. You can always rely on a stable salad bar, hearty sandwich station, good ol’ milk and cereal, and simple hamburgers and french fries. But after a while, your body can no longer take it.

The main problem is that the hot meals and “daily specials” are put out for a limited time, so many times students are stuck with pizza, burgers, fries, and strawberry ice cream. It may seem like a college student’s paradise, but eventually it gets old. The soda fountain tends to spew flat soda, the ice cream needs at least three hours to thaw out, and every few weeks or so there is a serious plates and/or utensils shortage. Basically, the management needs to step up on the food. There is enough variety to help students get by, if—and only if—the food is actually laid out for students to enjoy.

Terrible

Unless you want to eat greasy pizza and fries everyday or peanut butter and jelly this is not the place for you. The food is awful. And the workers make you feel bad every time you ask them for something and are rude and nasty.

The Pryz

Not many people enjoy the food from our dining hall the pryz. All freshman are required to get a dining plan that lets you have unlimited meals from the dining hall and then how ever many "dining dollars" you get for what you pay. The downstairs mini food court does have some good options like Chick-Fila, Quiznos, and some asian fusion but as a freshman it's not an every day option at all so Pryz food it is.

Dining Services Terrible.

The dining options are extremely limited. Be prepared for pizza/burgers/tacos for the next four years. The dining staff seems pained when asked to prepare something beyond these three food types. There is only one dining hall, it is very small for such a large population of students. Good luck trying to find somewhere to sit. During busy hours it is best to try to find an alternate source of food because you will not be able to get lunch and get to class on time. Do not waste your money on buying the full meal plan.

Did You Know? The meal plan gives students access to the all-you-can-eat restaurant in the Pryz. In addition, depending on the meal plan, each student is allotted a certain amount of "dining dollars," which lets him or her buy food at the food court, the convenience store, and Starbucks.
