Best Places to Hook Up
  1. The Basilica and law school lawns are spacious and appealing enough for couples to sit back and get a little PG-13.
  2. Call it old-fashioned, but what always works is a comfortable bed or couch in the privacy of one's own room. Just don't get caught!
  3. Nothing is more moving than an in-motion hookup. The Metro (and Metro platform) is ideal for couples who enjoy a good PDA.
  4. If already on the Metro, trek to the center of the city for a good historic hookup—make out in the presence of Washington's beautiful monuments.
  5. One would be remiss if hooking up in a club or nightclub was absent on this list. It's simple, practical, and most of all, fun.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Given that there is little diversity at the University, you'll mostly run into all-American guys and girls—or Americans with some Irish blood flowing through them. With that being said, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed girls are pretty hot. Actually, most girls at CUA, blonde or not, fit the bill of being generally smart, dedicated, and attractive young women. The only problem is that they look like everybody else on campus. Of course, generalizing is never a good thing, and most guys can find a girl that fits the “girl of my dreams” prototype. But there is no escaping that most guys will probably think to themselves “I know a girl just like her back home.” That’s not necessarily a bad thing, nor is it a great thing—it just is.

With the guys on campus, it’s a little different. There is a vast variety of men for women to pick from. There are beefy jocks, dedicated nerds, ambitious politics majors, colorful music majors, deeply religious theology or philosophy majors, party animals, and funny guys. And physically, it is just the same, with many familiar resemblances, like with the girls. And as for promiscuity, take this lovely fact: everyone will be “sexiled” (sex + exiled, as in one’s roommate will politely or abruptly ask the other to leave for the night) at least once.

Facts

Social Scene

The answer is no: The Catholic University of America is not filled with future priests and nuns or Bible thumpers. While it is true that there are many devoutly Catholic, conservative students studying at CUA for the very obvious reason of its Catholic affiliation, it is just as true to see the party animals and troublemakers stumbling along the pathway, drinking and smoking the night away. It is quite impressive to see both the straight-laced and utterly trashed students coexist peacefully. Of course, the University’s name (and the meaning it holds) cannot be ignored. The University provides many social functions for good, clean fun. For example, Campus Ministry has a group called “The House,” which is comprised of about a dozen students who organize weekly events, such as laser tag, sports venues, ice cream parties, and much more.

Many couples unite by virtue of their strong commitment to the Catholic faith, being that the University has a strong Catholic affiliation. So it is quite natural for guys and girls to meet at church or Catholic social events. As far as the rest of the CUA populace, the common story is meeting someone through a friend of a friend, through Friday/Saturday night carousing, or through the ever-so-popular drunken hookup at parties.

Hookups or Relationships?

Students here are no different than those you see on MTV’s "Laguna Beach." One will hear stories of drunken hookups, dramatic breakups, and individuals finding “the one.” And eventually, everyone will have their own crazy/dramatic/sad story to tell.

Dress Code

This campus is very casual, with most students running around in pajama pants, track shorts, tank tops, and flip-flops. And in the winter, jogging pants and a big ol’ sweatshirt.
