The general consensus is that the food sucks. For one, there is absolutely no variety. There are a total of two places to choose from: the cafeteria and Randle’s Place. The cafeteria generally has pizza, a sandwich and salad bar, hamburgers, a stir-fry dish, and some other option that varies. The food, while not terrible, gets old pretty fast. After two weeks, you’ll know the entire menu and really look forward to taco day. Cafeteria workers often try to brighten the atmosphere by having theme meals. Don’t be surprised if one day you walk into the cafeteria and the workers are wearing sombreros while mariachi music plays in the background.
Unfortunately, even though the presentation may change, the food always tastes the same. The vegetarian offerings usually consist of salad, cheese pizza, and a mushy or undercooked vegetable. Randle’s also has little variety. While freshmen aren’t inherently required to get a meal plan, if you live on campus you must get a meal plan, and most freshmen live on campus. The meal plans don’t vary much. If you’re a freshman or sophomore, you have the choice of having 15 meals per week in the Caf and $150 at Randle’s, or 12 meals and $250. When you reach your junior year, you can buy a lower-priced meal plan with only seven meals per week and $250. It’s generally a good idea to get more money toward Randle’s because you’ll rarely use all the Caf meals, and Randle’s is open all day. Though you’ll get used to the food and it’s reasonably healthy, make sure to put some money aside to visit a restaurant once in while. It’s the only way you’ll survive.

The food is, in one word, terrible. Randle’s is the only place worth mentioning, and even it is not that good. |

We only have the Caf and Randle’s. The food is alright, as long as you don’t mind eating the same thing every day. |

Randle’s has good food. The Caf is okay, and there’s enough stuff to choose from that you can find something you like. |

Cafeteria food is not bad. The pizza is good, fries are good, and sometimes the bagels are good. I, however, do not eat meat and do not really feel I can completely comment on all the food. Randle’s isn’t bad. I eat there every once in a while. |

The food is bad. No lie. You’re looking at catered food from Sodexho, which is a cafeteria service for everything from prisons to college campuses. Worried about the food? Call the Student Life Office and ask why Centenary subscribes to the second lowest quality of food that Sodexho offers. Randle’s (the school’s grill) is a little better, with more care taken with basically the same products. But hey, you didn’t come here to eat, and besides, it’s a good way to avoid the Freshman 15. |

Did You Know? The school holds a crawfish boil every spring to welcome prospective students. If you’ve never had crawfish, it’s a Louisiana delicacy that you must try at least once. When you have your first tray of crawfish, make sure you have an expert nearby. There’s an art to peeling crawfish that only an accomplished consumer can teach you.
