Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The administration likes to promote the College as a community. While most of the time this results in activities that make you feel like you’ve stepped back into kindergarten or summer camp, living on campus is like having a huge family. There are five dorms at Centenary, and all of them have suite-style rooms, which means absolutely no hall bathrooms. Most students complain about Cline the most. It’s noisy, dirty, the rooms are small, and there are eight people in a suite. Students chuck VCRs off the balcony and fill the courtyard fountain with soap and food coloring. If you’re looking for the typical college party atmosphere, Cline is the place for you. If you’re a guy, you’ll probably have no choice, because the other dorms usually fill up with upperclassmen and there are no all-male dorms. Hardin and Sexton are all-girl dorms. James Hall is coed and the best dorm to stay in if you want a good community atmosphere without too much noise. Rotary Hall is the best dorm on campus. The suites have a living area and two bedrooms, which each have a private bathroom. It’s a nice dorm, but really quiet. Most students would advise living on campus because it’s cheaper and easier. All your classes are no more than a five- to ten-minute walk away, and students are always around if you need help with homework. Don’t get discouraged if you hate your dorm your first year. Where you live is determined by your academic standing. The better your grades and the more hours you have, the more likely you will be able to live in the dorm you want.

Go for the Newer Dorms

I stayed in the Cline dormitory at Centenary College and it just felt dirty and small. The air conditioner frequently went out, and we often had to deal with bugs and weird smells. But despite this, everyone was very friendly. I always found something to do while I was there. But if you're looking for a good dorm, go with one of the newer ones like James hall or Sexton.

The dorms are cool. People say stay away from Cline, but I lived there three years. I like its open atmosphere, you can always find someone up, and I think it is a more tight-knit dorm than the rest. The only place on campus I would not want to stay is in the attic of Rotary, since it takes so long to get there.

If you’re a girl, stay in an all-girl dorm. The rooms are bigger, and it’s not as noisy.
