Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most of the girls on campus complain about the lack of male students. Centenary desperately needs more guys. The good guys are all taken, and the rest are gay. (Not really, but sometimes it seems that way.) Male students entering Centenary should have no problem finding a date or multiple dates. Hookups vary from engagements to drunken, one-night flings. Most couples are pretty reserved, confining PDA to handholding and quick kisses. While there is a 3 a.m. curfew in dorms for opposite-sex visitors, as long as you’re discreet, no one really cares. The College is big about promoting safe sex, and Health Services has a basket of free condoms on their door for students. Students are generally discreet and safe about their sexual activity.

Students at Centenary usually find a good balance between social life and school. There are a few people that do more partying than studying, but most students place academics high on their list of priorities. There is a significant number of sorority girls, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on your point of view. Unfortunately, the small number of guys means they’re in high demand, and they know it. Guys will sometimes complain about being one of two or three guys in a class. The girls tend to ignore them or grin apologetically when the conversation steers toward feminism in any class. It can be rough for male students, but they rarely complain. They know the numbers work for them when it comes to dating.

A lot of the guys are hot. The girls are hot, too. The girl-to-guy ratio is way slanted to the girls side. They’re everywhere.

There’s a fair amount of guys, even though the stats say more girls than guys. But really, there’s all of Shreveport to look at.

There is a fair population of attractive men on campus and a healthy supply of athletes if that’s what you’re into. Some of the girls are just plain fine, but there is also a good stock of moderately attractive girls. The range of hotness is not as extreme as it is at some larger schools (less stock), but if you want to meet someone, you shouldn’t have any trouble. It’s not too hard to get play either, from either side of the fence.

Facts

Social Scene

Centenary is generally a socially active college. Because it's so small, you'll get to know everyone in your class and at least recognize everyone else. Cliques tend to form, and you just need to walk into the cafeteria once to see the different groups of friends. In that way it's slightly reminiscent of high school, and some students have gone as far as to call the College "Centenary High." It's nearly impossible to escape the social scene with a campus of under a thousand.

Hookups or Relationships?

Relationships are almost always low-key. There are a few students that form serious commitments, and some get engaged, but there are also uncomplicated hookups if that's what you're after. If you're a single female student, you quickly realize that the good ones are already taken. The large female population makes it hard for girls and unbelievably easy for male students to find a date.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

Students with common majors or extracurricular activities seem to pair up quickly. Athletes date athletes, and choir students date choir students. If you’re looking for a less committed relationship, check out the fraternity parties. Most students seem to pair up after talking in classes or working on projects together. Organizational meetings are also a great way to meet people that have the same interests as you do. If you’re a girl, or a gay guy, you’ll probably have to look off campus to find a good selection of guys. Frequenting bars and concerts is a great way to meet the men of Shreveport. There are some good ones out there, so don’t give up. Guys have a larger student population of girls to choose from. So if you’re having trouble picking, just throw a dart. You’re bound to hit some cute girl.

Dress Code

The dress is universally casual. Most students just wear jeans and a T-shirt. Though there are several girls that go to class in heels and skirts. If you have a crazy style of dressing, expect to stand out. Centenary students aren’t known for their unique fashion sense, though a select few will really surprise you.
