Most of the students that enter Centenary are looking for a school where they won’t be just a face in the crowd. You can make a name for yourself very easily. Students that have enough drive can accomplish anything they want at Centenary. If you want to take a certain class, but the College doesn’t offer it, you can organize an independent study. If you want a certain organization formed, get some signatures and petition the administration. There’s a wonderful sense that anything you want to accomplish can be done. Some students complain of being bored at Centenary, but finding your place in the College requires work. Getting involved in an organization is one of the most rewarding things about Centenary, because you have the opportunity to re-create the organization and really leave your mark. Becoming involved at Centenary is essential. Most of the organizations are student-run, and the faculty and staff encourage student input. If you don’t participate, the school and city may seem dull.

The most important thing about Centenary, though, is the quality of the academics. Although you may not have a huge faculty with a multitude of specialties, the teachers at Centenary work hard to make you learn. They give out their home numbers and encourage students to visit their office. Some of the teachers even take classes out for dinner at the end of the semester. There’s an amazing sense of friendship between teachers and students. You never feel lost in the mass of students at Centenary. This casual atmosphere makes classes fun, exciting, and interesting. If you take full advantage of the organizations, classes, and teachers at Centenary, you will leave feeling confident and proud of the education you received.
