Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Although you won’t need a car to get around campus, since it only spans a city block, having a car is important for going places in Shreveport. The College doesn’t offer any transportation services, but you can always catch a ride with another student. Whether you have a car or not, it’s a good idea to make friends with someone from Shreveport. The locals usually have cars, and they know the best roads. Learning the best routes can cut your traveling time drastically. Most students that don’t have cars get around by bumming rides. The public transportation isn’t incredibly convenient. There are a few bus stops around campus, but some students complain that the buses are always late.

Students can always call taxis, but they take a while to get to campus, and it gets expensive. The school does have a program that offers free taxi rides back from local bars. Students that have partied a little too hard simply call 222-TAXI, say they are a Centenary student, and a car takes them safely back to campus. If you want to walk, there are several restaurants within walking distance. The grocery stores are a bit further, and crossing certain streets can be dangerous. Because Shreveport is a rather small city, public transportation isn’t as well organized as in larger cities. Very few students use public transportation, preferring to rely on friends or their own cars. Some students walk to stores, but that can get tiring, especially when it’s hot, which is often.
