College Prowler Take
Campus housing is one of those experiences that everyone needs to have, and as they say, misery begets camaraderie. Suffering through early roommate wake-ups, fire drills, farm animal appearances on your hall, and breaking visitation rules are part of the college experience. You’ll learn to either hate your RA’s guts or, in what tends to be the norm, you’ll love them and be best friends by the end of the first semester. Your freshman hallmates are also quintessential in defining your college experience, and you’ll be friends with most of them throughout your four years. Centre’s small size is beneficial to the close friendships that are created, especially during group all-nighters or cram sessions. While it seems odd that such a large percentage of students live on campus, the reason is because everyone is required to, but the College compensates upperclassmen with sweet pads. Seniors and juniors commonly have facilities on par with what one could rent in Danville, but are on campus. The freshman dorms are a unique experience, especially Nevin which is a love-it, hate-it rite of passage for guys, but the girls’ dorms tend to be more low-key and similar. Yerkes is an all-girls freshman dorm with larger halls than Cheek/Evans. Living on campus is the cool thing to do, and while the buildings aren’t the Hilton, the atmosphere that Centre manages to create on each hall is very “college,” as well as character-defining.

Upperclassman dorms are great
A-
Depending on what dorm you get, living on campus is great. Upperclassman dorms (PEARL!) are wonderful. The Greek houses also have really large rooms. The dorms in the old quad... not so much..

Dorms are your standard...
Dorms are your standard cinderblock prisons that all college students must experience at some point in their lives. Most have undergone renovations in the past few years, but the rooms are still too small to live in. Honestly, though, it’s college—what do you expect, the Ritz? You can also get housing that’s technically school-owned but more like apartments or single rooms. |

Dorms are nice. I don’t like the north side because of the walk, but all of them are comfortable sizes. |

The dorms are okay. I would avoid Cooper/Ganfield if possible. |

Ladies should live in Breck at least once during their Centre career. It is a lively dorm, a little loud, but overall, a good time. |

Centre has a quirky housing tradition that forbids freshmen girls and boys to have members of the opposite sex in their room for the first six weeks; if caught, violators pay a $25 fee.
