College Prowler Take

The College Centre, the complex containing the athletic facilities at Centre C, has recently been upgraded and remodeled. Sutcliffe now houses a three-court multipurpose recreational gymnasium, a renovated alumni gym, elevated three-lane jogging track, two 30-person classrooms, an 80-person conference room, new student, faculty, and staff locker rooms, a video viewing room, a cardiovascular exercise deck, an exercise/aerobics classroom, two new glass racquetball courts, and 1,500 square feet of lounge space. Sutcliffe isn’t the only boss facility Centre has; there are also the athletic fields, which are well-maintained. The more popular amenities, like the Bijou, can be reserved ahead of time with minimal effort.

The library is a great place to study, with private tables and work lamps to study under, but doesn’t have the books and information on hand that are needed for higher-level research projects. They will, however, help you with interlibrary loan. The science labs are equipped with microscopy laboratories that provide state-of-the-art instrumentation. There is also an aquatic research laboratory that provides research in marine and freshwater ecosystems, a greenhouse, and a botany laboratory for plant-related studies. The Norton Center for the Arts brings in big-name acts that are almost all free of charge for students, and houses a dance studio and all of the drama classrooms. Perhaps one of the best facilities Centre has is the hot glass studio, run by world-renowned glass artist Steve Powell.

All of the facilities are nice, well equipped, clean, and well staffed. The double-decker gym is huge. At my old school, the gym was a fifth of the size of the one at Centre, even though the school was three times the size of Centre. Everything on campus is very central, so if you want a snack while you're at the library, all you have to do is walk to the next building.

The facilities are great. The only thing lacking are places to eat. A lot of students would like to see something that is open late where the food is a little more healthy.

The facilities here are great and better than I’ve seen at other schools (even the ragged-on dorm computer labs). The student center is well-equipped but doesn’t get as much traffic as it can handle other than the Grille upstairs.
