Centre College - Overall ExperienceCollege Prowler0.00
College Prowler Take
Centre sells itself as an all-around environment; being more than just an academic powerhouse, the school promotes self-growth through service and community involvement. The progression from freshman to senior can seem like just the change of another four years, but Centre’s influence over the students is obvious. Centre graduates emerge as well-rounded leaders, activists, and the prominent who’s who of their generation. While the College experience is something few would trade, Centre’s best asset is the post-graduation benefits of the Centre Mafia of alumni that help graduates score hot jobs. As far as the overall experience, it’s amazing. Merging a great social scene with academics yields rounded individuals who are smart and fun. Centre is a place that takes away all the boring parts of high school but keeps all the spirit and fun. At Centre, each day is a healthy combination of work and play. Centre C is a few hours of class and homework blended with living with or next to your best friends, that hot crush, and your professors. Centre offers a remarkable experience for the whole person. It’s life changing because years after graduation, you’ll still keep in touch with your old professors, attend all the Centre events with other alumni in your neighborhood, vacation once a year with your sorority or fraternity friends, return for every Homecoming, and donate back to the College. The experience of Centre College is one that you’ll appreciate, at least a little, every day, and each year is a little sadder because it’s one year less you will have lived within a community of endless support and lifetime friends. It’s the priceless experience.

My grandmother was the first person to ever mention Centre to me. I was 15 and had never heard of it...turns out, this reaction is both a blessing and a curse for Centre. A lot of people you talk to, especially outside the state of Kentucky, aren't terribly familiar with Centre. It doesn't carry the name brand recognition of say Davidson or Amherst, but competitively speaking...the school is probably just as life changing and academically enriching. Most people who come to Centre for visits have the same reaction: "How have I never heard of this place?" It's a backhanded compliment really. Yes, this school is amazing. No, this school is not a commonly known name.
In the end, I chose Centre because it promised study abroad, an internship, and graduation in 4 years or the fifth year tuition-free. I wanted to go into theatre but was still concerned that theatre may not be a lucrative career for me (turns out, it wasn't). But the thought of Centre standing by their education and preparing me with a vast array of experiences guaranteed, made me feel secure in my decision to have my cake (major and theatre) and eat it (be successful in whatever field I chose) too.
I'd definitely do it over again given the choice. Centre has prepared me well, made me grow, made me question, made me think more than I thought any College could. What's more, the professors are first-class educators and genuine people. I couldn't have asked for a better college experience.

My overall experience has been wonderful. Everyone I have met at Centre is an incredible person. The students are extremely friendly, along with the faculty and staff. Centre has been a school that has not only met my academic needs, but also my social and environmental needs. Centre really gives students a feel of what it is like to live in a community of people that care about one another. Even though there are many diverse people and opinions on this campus, we are all able to come together to appreciate and celebrate in Centre. |

I have no regrets about coming to Centre; the best experiences of my life came from this college, including meeting my best friends and the love of my life, traveling the world, and getting a thorough, personal education that I don’t think I would have gotten elsewhere. I love it. |

I thought about transferring once. Then, I realized that once you make a place for yourself at Centre, you can get a whole lot more out of your education than cruising through a public institution. It was rough being so far from home, but I really found out who I was and how to get by on my own, and I had Centre faculty and staff, as well as my friends, supporting me the whole way. |
