The weather in Kentucky can be pretty crazy, especially for non-natives. The falls tend to be warm and ease into winter, which is often really cold. Students seem to really like the outdoors and can be seen eating dinner outside when the weather is warm enough or just studying outside. The winter can be pretty cold, and all the beautiful snow really loses its charm, especially by late March.

Sometimes the great hot sunny weather can take awhile to start up but, by the last part of spring semester, the weather is amazing, usually. Rain can be a drag in both fall and spring, but storms are usually short, lasting only a few hours. Pack all types of clothing for Centre; you’ll need it all of it at some time. It’s also a good idea to bring an umbrella.

Centre has all four seasons, and it's been fun to finally experience a more typical winter with snow. That said, after awhile it gets to be a bother to deal with. Fall and Spring are gorgeous and it's especially fun to go to Shakertown to enjoy the outside. There is some great hiking as well.

The winters are very sporadic—some are really cold and snowy, while some are just mild. Be prepared for all kinds of weather.

Kentucky is the most unpredictable...

Kentucky is the most unpredictable place for weather. Bring Eskimo clothing, bikinis and everything in between. And be prepared for a flood, a blizzard, an ice storm, a dust storm, extreme cold, extreme heat, and really nice breezy spring days in the middle of winter. However, the one thing that remains constant in Kentucky is high humidity. So have hair gel and AC.
