Yes! A lot of freshman love to hear that their first year will be spent inside a restored Victorian mansion. Being a rising sophomore I can say that I loved my first year experience. =)

Glad to hear you like it! Staying in one of the Victorian mansions Freshman year is an amazing experience. Being a rising sophomore, I can definitely support it. If you want to have some personal experience stories, please do not hesitate to ask. =)

Has air-conditioning. Pretty updated dorm, pretty much gutted the victorian house interior. But overall great location, great dorm

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Champlain residential life strives to create a safe and inclusive community. Living on campus as a first-year student is important for developing relationships and becoming involved on campus. Staying on campus or in Champlain's apartments as an upperclassman is more convenient for access to campus and allows students to further develop social skills. Champlain's 25 residence halls, the majority of which are renovated Victorian mansions, are extremely homey, well-kept, and many have incredible views of Lake Champlain. Every room is unique, bright, and there are no "forced triples" that you may hear about at other schools. Main campus is located in "the Hill" section of Burlington, a safe neighborhood just one mile east of downtown. From all dorms, it's no more than a 10-minute walk to class—the majority takes less than five minutes, which is especially appreciated when the temperature drops.

All residence halls develop a different social feel, but most first-year dorms turn into one big family where every resident plays a crucial role. Residents are comfortable leaving their doors open and are very welcoming. Many students go on to room with their friends from their first-year dorm. Resident assistants and the entire Residential Life staff are always there to smooth out any problems with housing snafus.
