Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Greek life at Chapman is different than it is anywhere else. There is no Greek housing on campus, which creates a positive relationship between chapters and allows them to interact regularly—Greeks have friends from different chapters and are very supportive of one another. They are also some of the most involved students on campus and many hold leadership positions such as orientation assistant, Associated Student officer, residence adviser, Student & Campus Life staff member, and Chapman Ambassador.

The majority of events on campus are hosted by Greeks. Most sororities and fraternities have two philanthropic events a year and host other events such as Greek Week and Skit Night. Chapman's party scene is also tied to Greek life. Fraternities will have parties every week, and it can be difficult to get into one if you are not Greek. Since Greek life is such a close-knit community at Chapman, there tends to be a separation between Greeks and non-Greeks. Greeks usually hang out with other Greeks, and most non-Greeks, of which the majority also happens to be film students, hang out with each other. Joining Chapman's Greek life is the fastest and easiest way to make hundreds of new friends, become part of the social scene, and gain leadership experience. The  chapters each offer something different, allowing any student to find his or her perfect sorority or fraternity.

Greek Life

I'm a part of greek life and it is awesome, although we do not have greek housing, we are all still very close. If you want to be a part of a huge greek community, Chapman is the place to go. We pride ourselves on being inclusive, with 14 greek organizations, there's pretty much a place for everyone. Whats great too is that although a lot of students do go greek, those that don't are very seldom left out. Many of my friends are unaffiliated.

Chapman is a small school with about 30% of the students affiliated with Greek life, so it definitely affects the social atmosphere of campus. Greek life is different from other schools because there is no housing, so there is a somewhat friendlier vibe between the houses. Being Greek myself I can say that I have more Greek friends than non-Greek friends.
