Quaint Town

The town of orange is really old and small, has a vintage feel to it. Not really a big city other than LA nearby if you want to go clubbing.

There are many options off campus, many people go to classics like In and Out or Chipotle, but find a true Chapman student and they'll take you to Taco Adobe or Ricardos for some extra fun.

Love Old Town Orange

Orange is a wonderful, quaint town with antique malls and great food. Newport is 15 minutes away, Disneyland is 10 minutes away and LA is about 45 minutes. Great central location, and very safe,

No Segregation!

There is a great sense of community here at Chapman. I am a film major but I have a lot of friends who are business majors and we find great connections with both fields! With studying Producing for Film, in particular, being around my friends who are business majors helps me better understand business ideals, in general. I then simply connect what I learn from them to the world of film. Needless to say, there is no segregation of studies. Everyone is open to learning from one another. We build great relationships and connections without even trying too hard.

Glass Hall FTW

Chapman doesn't have a huge Res Life property so all the dorms are fairly close. Rooms are ALL suite style with each room either having their own bathroom or sharing it with only one other room of the same gender. Rooms range from 2-3 person per but they still have way more room than a state school even with all three beds debunked. If you can Glass Hall South Tower is ideal for incoming freshmen. It might be a little farther then Henley or Pralle-Sodaro but the amenities are significantly better.

All of the buildings on campus are new and modern with the exception of the science center. They are constantly building and making old buildings nicer. The campus is really pretty and they just built a brand new pool by the dorms.

Prevalent

Chapman is a small school with about 30% of the students affiliated with Greek life, so it definitely affects the social atmosphere of campus. Greek life is different from other schools because there is no housing, so there is a somewhat friendlier vibe between the houses. Being Greek myself I can say that I have more Greek friends than non-Greek friends.

Completely Safe

The area of Orange is completely secure. Walking around at night is perfectly fine as long as you know where you're going. The residential area around campus consists of old couples, middle-aged families, and Chapman students. Public Safety is extremely helpful and vigilant. The university and the housing options practice a myriad of techniques to keep students alert. As a whole, I couldn't imagine a safer place than Chapman University.

Good Looks...At Least

Chapman is situated in California, the girls are undoubtedly hot for the most part, and so are the guys. For the area that we are in there is a huge variance in this as well though. Unfortunately personality doesn't go that deep for some, but not all. Greek life seems to rule the roost here, even though it is really only a fourth of the students, they just make it seem like three fourths with how "loud" they are on campus. Exclusivity is key to the social scene here and if you are not in greek life, be prepared to party even harder to be included. A plus for looks, C for personality.

Pick-And-Choose Policies = Unsuccessful

There's not a huge focus on keeping people safe from violent crimes or sex crimes, it seems, as the campus is poorly lit, not particularly patrolled, and there are very few safe phones to help people quickly call for help if necessary. Instead, there's a huge focus on ensuring that people do not drink or smoke marijuana (regardless of whether those who partake are of age or have a medicinal marijuana card), which is bizarre. Additionally, parties get shut down incredibly quickly because the residents of Orange get upset, which is ridiculous considering they chose to live next to a college. Generally speaking, college towns have considerably louder, younger populations that often are looking to partake in drinking and partying on the weekends, so choosing to live next to a school of 4,000+ students--most of whom are around the age of 21--and whining that they're ruining your sleep sounds sort of absurd. It's like living next to a dog shelter and complaining about the barking; what did you think was going to happen?

Physical Therapy '14

N/A

Rehabiliation Sciences

My purpose in undertaking advanced graduate study is to pursue a dual degree. I plan to earn a master’s degree in occupational therapy and a doctorate’s degree in physical therapy in order to positively impact people’s lives and make a difference in the world. I believe that I possess the personal characteristics and motivating factors to pursue and excel in the profession of rehabilitation therapy. I am a very driven and persistent person with a passion for helping others. The profession of physical therapy and occupational therapy require a strong drive and persistent attitude for academic and professional achievement. The academic knowledge required for physical therapy is extensive, but I know my strong perseverance will push me to excel in this profession.

Also, my strong desire to learn and pursue knowledge will drive me to succeed in the field of physical and occupational therapy. I realize I am at the beginning of this lifelong endeavor in the study of the human body, and I have a lot to learn. I have always had a passion for the study of body movement and physical injury. Also, I know that committing to the study of physical therapy is a commitment to a future of lifelong learning in order to provide my future patients with the most innovative and efficient treatment in care in their path to recovery and complete health.

Like Going to School in a Park

Chapman's campus is not breathtaking, but it is a wonderful place to live and learn. Outdoors, there are fountains, sculptures, and healthy green lawns. There's lots of benches and outdoor seating, too. As far as buildings, go, it depends. Some building are on the National Historic Register, and add a lot of personality to campus, but are sort of dated inside. On the other hand, some buildings are brand new, like the film school (Dodge) and the Leatherby Library. Argyros Forum, which houses classrooms and the bookstore, is currently under construction to have a brand new student union and dining facilities.

Randall Dining Commons at Chapman University

This year at chapman we have a new Dining hall right in the center of all the residence halls. This is very conveniant for all residents for they dont have to walk far at all to the dining hall. The dining hall is new this year and it kind of resembles a food court in a mall. you have the asain station, the greek/mediteranian station, the Euro station, Italian station, Sushi bar, American (hamburgers, grilled cheese etc), the vegan station, and the salad bar/ sandwich station. There are 4 meal plans to choose from: 10 meals, 12 meals, 14 meals and 19 meal plans. the more meals per week you choose the less panther bucks you recieve ex: for the 10 meals per week plan you will recieve 200 panther bucks. Panther bucks can be used at "Doys Place," located in henley basement where they sell pizza, coffe, chips, ice cream, soups, salads, juices/sodas/water, to candy and cereal. One may also choose to spend their panther bucks at the cafe and sandwich place located in Beckman Hall and also the dining hall located in Argyros Forum which offers students mexican food, traditional american food, italian food and even a smoothie parlor.

Chapman Get's a C

My experience at Chapman has been okay. I like the class sizes, the professors, and the work is hard but easy to do well on if you take the time to do it. The campus is beautiful and the town near Chapman is great. However, people part constantly. Any day of the week you can find a massive party to go to. Because I don't party or drink, it's been hard to make friends, even within my sorority. Finally, the dorms are very, very crowded and with three girls in each room, fights are bound to happen, and probably often.

The Greeks Rule the School

At Chapman, the Greeks are like the popular kids in high school. They dominate and rule the school. This is apparent especially during Greek Week and Skit Night. I don't think there is another campus in California that shows this much support for Greek life, mainly because the campus is so small.

The downside is if you're not Greek and live on campus, you're basically the minority. The majority of non-Greeks are commuters—and they're a pretty small pool.

What Diversity?

The diversity on campus is basically the rich and very rich and the natural blondes and the bottle blondes, so really, none. The majority of students are beautiful, thin, and financially well-off. I give this a C grade to be fair because you can't really complain about surrounding yourself with a bunch of beautiful people.

Great dorms

The newer dorms are amazing and are almost hotel-like. The older dorms like Morlan and Braden need a little improvement. Dorm rooms are much bigger than UCLA and USC, which is a plus.
