Students at Chapman University have a sun-kissed glow year-round. The sun beats down at a sweltering 90+ degrees in August and September, and students can usually be found at one of the four nearby beaches. By the end of October, while most U.S. college students are sipping hot cocoa by the fire, Chapman students are still making the most of their swimsuits and surfboards.
It begins to get cooler in December, but the word "cold" in California is used to refer to temperatures between 45 and 60 degrees. It rains two to three times a year, and out-of-state students dance for joy, while California natives hibernate in their homes. Beach excursions are officially on hold in February and March, the coldest months of the year. Chapman women begin pairing their summer dresses and skirts with leggings and boots for the breezy winter evenings. But, by the middle of April, the sun reappears in full force, and Chapman students hit the waves once more.
