Because Chatham was founded in 1869, the housing is unique. There are four main dorms, and three of these—Rea, Fickes, and Laughlin—are former mansions that have been converted into student housing. As a result, each room is unique and spacious. Woodland is the most recent addition and looks more like a typical dormitory, but all Chatham housing is beautiful. There are plenty of room options, including singles, doubles, triples, and quads. The mansion dormitories are beautiful, but their age means they are not air-conditioned, and Laughlin, Rea, Fickes, and the apartments are not conveniently located to the academic buildings or the library. The majority of students agrees that not only does Woodland have the best location, but it also is the only student housing option with a wireless connection. Residents in other residence halls must use an Ethernet cable in order to access the Internet. Students who live in Upper Campus housing are generally very social and congregate on their floors or in the common areas. Laughlin tends to be the quietest building, but students are still very social with one another. In all campus housing, at least one resident adviser (RA) is present to help resolve disputes, and each building is also assigned a graduate resident director (GRD), who works to ensure that students have a safe, enjoyable place to live during the school year.
For students not wanting to live in traditional housing, Chatham offers three living learning community options. Living learning communities are residence halls focused on a particular subject that help students connect around a central theme. Laughlin Hall is the the Intercultural LLC, Rea is the Environmental LLC, and the second floor of Woodland Hall is the First Year Experience Community. Throughout the year, the residents in the living learning communities host events open to the whole campus.

Living at Chatham
I actually do not live on campus anymore, I am a commuter and started doing so in the Spring of 2010. I lived at Chatham during my first semester and had a bad experience with my first roommate. After living there with a new roommate for the remainder of the semester, I realized that I could save a lot by moving home and commuting to school. This decreased my tuition payment greatly, which was necessary for me.

Living on Campus Is Nice
As a graduate student I live in on the 4th floor of Woodland hall. In the same building is a cafe that serves beer and wine, has open mic nights, and a giant lounge area that's great for relaxing. Total costs for living on campus in a dorm is ~$2000/semester without a car, and all things considered - that's cheaper than having a car and commuting, plus the food is really good in the dining facilities.

Chatham Housing
The campus is one of the most beautiful that I've ever seen and the dorm halls are pretty nice too. I didn't really like Woodland because it newer and had less character so I lived in Fickes, and it was awesome. I mean, how many people can say that their dorm was in a renovated old mansion? I think the apartments are pretty nice too, but even though they are usually triples, it would be better if they were doubles as they can get pretty crowded.
