| Advice on Finding a Job/Internship | |
- Chatham University's Career Development office keeps a list of previous internship sites for students. This list is available under the My.Chatham.edu documents tab. The Career Development office has broken down the internship sites by major so students can browse the list of internship sites completed by students in the same major.
- Since Chatham University has been in Pittsburgh for more than 140 years, there are alumnae working in every field imaginable. Therefore, if there is a specific place you would like to intern, contact the Alumni Association to see if an alumna is working in the field you want to explore or pursue! Alumnae are generally thrilled to have a Chatham student intern with them!
- The best place to start looking for a job or internship at Chatham or beyond is at the Career Development office. Chatham jobs are first offered to students who qualify for federal work-study, but after that, jobs are open to the entire campus. Students can work for academic departments, the Athletic & Fitness Center, Parkhurst Dining Services, or in various library and Information Technology jobs. The Student Employment office handles hiring, job placement, and follow-ups on campus.
- Where the Career Development office really shines, however, is in internship placement. The office provides career services, including résumé reviews and interview practice, and helps students find internships that are applicable to students' majors and career goals both in Pittsburgh and out of state. Most students at Chatham complete one or more internships during their undergraduate years. Students looking for an internship should contact the Career Development office early. The process is fairly easy, and even students who find internships independently from the Career Development office can use the center as a resource for completing the internship and for obtaining course credit, if desired.
