Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Pittsburgh is a close-knit community with a wealth of restaurants, museums, and off-campus areas for students to enjoy. Chatham students can take the University's Green Machine shuttles to the University of Pittsburgh or Carnegie Mellon University to hang out with off-campus friends or visit any of the museums or hangouts in the Oakland area. Squirrel Hill and Shadyside neighborhoods are within walking distance of campus, and both areas have restaurants and shops for students looking for something to do on a weekend afternoon.

Chatham's location in the heart of Pittsburgh means that a lot of places are within walking distance. Shadyside is about a 20-minute walk from Chatham's front entrance, and Squirrel Hill is a 10-minute walk from the back. Squirrel Hill has a movie theater, a Giant Eagle grocery store, and various independently owned shops and restaurants. Shadyside has small boutiques and a Chipotle, a popular place for Chatham students to eat. Students looking for something a little different might take the bus or drive with friends down to The Waterfront, which has a Dave & Buster’s, T.G.I. Friday's, Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Macy's. More adventurous students might try the downtown area, which is easily accessible by bus and full of culture, clubs, bars, and sports. It is next to impossible to get bored in Pittsburgh. There's something to do and always something going on—no matter your budget or what kind of experience you're looking for.

Beautiful, Clean Campus

Campus - although I'm rarely there is very hilly and the buildings are gorgeous. It feels very safe and secure and the atmosphere is very friendly. I could tell parking was an issue though.

Pittsburgh at a Glance

This city is very busy. There is always some form of activity going on, whether it be a festival, a party, a show or ballet. Right now for the holidays there are parties almost every night and the Nutcracker is running until Christmas Eve. There is ALWAYS something to do here and so many cheap places that broke college students can shop at.
