Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

While nightlife on Chatham's campus might be hard to find outside of Student Activities-sponsored events, nightlife in Pittsburgh is anything but lacking. The city has everything from dive bars to clubs to ultra lounges to places where students can grab something to eat late at night, and students say that going out with a good group of people makes it easy to have a good time. Going out in Pittsburgh is not as expensive as it is in other big cities, but going out off campus can add up, unless students know where to go to take advantage of drink and cover specials.

Some bars and clubs, including those in Oakland and Shadyside, are easily accessible by foot, bus, or Chatham shuttles. However, the bus system can be too tedious to use when going to clubs in Station Square and the SouthSide Works, so most students either choose a designated driver (preferably someone with a vehicle on campus) or take a taxi, though this adds another expense to going out. Friday and Saturday are the best nights to go out in Pittsburgh, and house parties can be found on other college campuses, particularly at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. Underage students can hang out at bars that are also restaurants, check out Pittsburgh’s great cultural experiences like the Andy Warhol Museum, or head up the incline, which provides incredible views of the city.

Chatham Nightlife

I really have no idea what the nightlife is like at Chatham University since I commute and I do not take part in the nightlife activities.

Not Much Night Life -- People Probably Go to Pitt and CMU for That.

There really isn't much of a night life here. People go to hang out in Cafe Rachel, sure, but to be perfectly honest I haven't seen a single hint of a party that includes alcohol or drugs. Perhaps that's because I'm not in with those people, but still, you'd think you'd see them go by every now and then. I don't. The drunken obnoxiousness is pretty much completely absent, which is nice. People from Chatham probably go to Pitt and CMU and the like for their wild parties and whatnot. As for outside of Chatham, I can't say. I'm not much interested in this sort of thing.
