Scholarships at Chatham

Chatham does offer some scholarships but it does not offer enough scholarships. Also, sometimes the scholarship application deadlines aren't made clear. Some scholarships are only offerred to incoming freshmen/first years. Chatham needs to allow for more opportunities to apply to different scholarships each year rather than just the first time you enroll as a freshman to the college.

Financial Aid

I got a fair amount of aid. Depending on who you talk to, it can be fairly easy. the important thing is TO ASK. If they don't know about your problems they can't bump up the financial aid for you. In general, try to remain calm and try to talk to your admissions counselor about who you should talk to, so that you can get in contact with someone who can help you (that's what I ended up doing-except the calm thing)

Great Financial Aid

In my experience, Chatham offers better-than-average financial aid. The financial aid office is also really accessible if you have a problem.

Advice on Financial Aid

The most important step when applying for financial aid is to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible after your family has obtained its tax information, which is needed to fill out the form. The sooner you fill out the form, the greater access you’ll have to available funds, and it also makes dealing with the Office of Financial Aid much more efficient. For students who qualify, work-study jobs are readily available on campus. Chatham also offers generous scholarships, including merit scholarships for academic success, World Ready Women Scholarships that can be won at one of two scholarship days held for incoming students, and Girl Scout scholarships, among others. Speak with your admissions counselor to see which of these scholarships you may qualify for. Chatham also accepts outside scholarships, but stay in touch with the financial aid office to ensure they are applied to your student account. Chatham also offers a tuition installment program where students can pay tuition over time, rather than in chunks, which makes affording school easier for some. Overall, financial aid at Chatham is fairly easy to obtain, and the financial aid office is willing to work with students who are having difficulty paying for tuition. Just make sure to stay in constant contact with the Office of Financial Aid so your financial award is posted promptly to your student account!
