Did You Know? Weather in Pittsburgh can be extremely random. Sometimes it will rain in the morning for a short period, and then the sun will come out, making residents forget about the horrible rainstorm that just occurred!

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Pittsburgh weather includes all four seasons. The city experiences warm summers, which are usually sunny with high humidity and temperatures that range from the low 60s to the high 90s. When students arrive in August, it is definitely summer weather. Fall in Pittsburgh is a distinct season, with moderate temperatures from the low 40s to the high 60s, and it features a lot of rain toward the end of November. If you're coming from a warm climate without a real winter, hold on to your wool hats. While Pittsburgh does not experience the intense snow of the Northeast, temperatures do drop below freezing, and snow is definitely a feature of winters here.

Students who don’t know much about Pittsburgh before attending Chatham may be surprised by the amount of snow and ice that characterize winter months. Refreezing can also be a problem—slightly warmer days create slush, and very cold nights freeze it back into ice. So, in the winter, watch your step. Fortunately, Pittsburgh also has a distinct spring season. Temperatures remain chilly through the end of March, but April brings warmer weather and quite a bit of rain. One of the best things about Chatham University is that, by being an arboretum, students are able to watch the seasons change throughout the year. Fall is extremely beautiful as the leaves change color, which leads to winter, when the snow glistens on the trees, and then there's spring, a time of rebirth when flowers bloom. There is never a bad season to be had on the Chatham University campus!

Chathams Campus

The campus has many direct paths to the different buildings. The campus is still beautiful no matter what time of year. The weather in pittsburgh, pa isn't all that great though.

Snow, Sleet, Hail, Etc. No Classes Cancelled

The weather is really random here, so even with a foot of snow the side walks will be perfectly cleared and salted so classes are never cancelled, but the walk to and from will always be safe. The campus is beautiful in snow and sunshine, so even with crazy weather, it's pretty great.
