Worst Things

  1. Lack of diversity
  2. The lack of guys on campus is tough for some.
  3. Parking is very limited, unless you're a senior or commuter.
  4. The size of Chatham's campus can cause a "bubble" effect, making students feel like they are trapped on campus. A small campus also means lots of drama and classes aren't always offered when you need them.
  5. Some of the "behind-the-scenes" employees—admissions, financial aid, and registrar—can be difficult to work with.
  6. Some struggling athletic teams
  7. Students have to compete two Maymesters (three-week concentrated study that can include projects, internships, or traveling).
  8. The Chatham honor code is not enforced.
  9. Out-of-state students are required to live on campus for two years instead of being allowed to rent an off-campus apartment.
  10. Some students want to party instead of focusing on their academic success.

Endless Problems With University Issued Lap Tops

Considering the size of our university, I feel the computer labs available in the library are adequate, but it is very convenient to have your own laptop because Wi-Fi is available all across campus. The connectivity to the network is quite reliable, but the computers we have been issued (and forced to pay for) are not as reliable. Continual checkups and updates are required due to the limiting capacity these computers have, and the need to back information up is alarming considering I can count on my computer to crash at least 3-4 times a year. This is very frustrating, considering many students (although they are paying for the issued tablets) have gone out and bought their own personal computer because of the issued computers unreliable nature and limiting capacity.

It's an All-Girls School

I do not like the idea of all girls as much as I thought I would. I would rather have diversity and some guys around campus to hang out with.

Subpar Athletics

Chatham's athletes are not great at sports, or at their academics for that matter. Chatham's sports are at a level where none of the athletes receive a scholarship for playing at the college level but many had no choice but to attend Chatham due to their substandard playing and academic abilities. Each semester Chatham places posters throughout campus rewarding athletes who have been placed on the athletes honor roll. Sometimes the athletes are rewarded for a 3.6 and above, while some receive recognition for obtaining a 3.0 GPA or above. Many of the academic students who do well at Chatham are not happy about the posters because Dean's List GPA requirement is a 3.5 and the athletes are simply rewarded for a 3.0 GPA. Chatham places more emphasis on the athletes than on any other sector of Chatham even though the teams barely win.
