Many students choose Claflin because of its academic reputation and tradition of excellence. The University offers more than 35 majors through the School of Business, School of Education, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. There is also an honors college that offers a more stimulating program with more rigorous learning experiences, intense academic advising, increased cultural enrichment activities, and community-service experiences aimed at enhancing and developing students’ academic and leadership potential. All Claflin students must fulfill general education requirements, and all rising juniors must take the General Education Exit Exam.

The professors at Claflin are as diverse as the students, which contributes to a very rich and rewarding learning experience. Some students may have slight problems adjusting to certain professors and their teaching style, but everyone here is always looking to learn. In general, the workload and grading system are average—it can be a challenge or a trivial pursuit depending on the student. Claflin students generally attain high GPAs and even partake in study abroad programs where they can learn about new cultures, people, and lifestyles. As a result of the academic opportunities that Claflin provides, many students perform well and move on to top graduate schools and careers.

Caring Professors

I attend Claflin University, and I am a undergraduate student. I'm highly pleased with my education thus far. I'm a Biology major, my professors seem to care about my education, I'm receiving help from all of them. Once I got to know my professors they helped me often.

I am majoring in Sociology. The workload is manageable and every Dean and or Professor that I have meant that teaches the subject loves what they do.
