Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Claflin is affiliated with the United Methodist Church, and the University has a reputation for being very strict. Even the most law-abiding student may find it hard to adjust to some of the more impractical rules the school has, such as no walking on the grass. With other rules like quiet hours in the dorm and more controversial policies like no visitation in dorm rooms and curfews for freshmen and sophomores, students say they feel like they are being deprived of exploring all areas of college life.

While attending such an uptight university can have its disadvantages, students always seem to find loopholes to break free from some of the more conventional rules here. Most students accept the campus rules without protest because rule-bending and breaking is done out of sight. Even if word does get around to campus police, 99 percent of the wrong-doers are never caught. However, residential managers (RMs) or assistants (RAs) will most likely write you up and charge you if you break a dorm rule. One of the main reasons for this is that RAs are upperclassmen who like to throw around their so-called authority with other students. Every rule you break or every fee you are charged is instantly put on your student account.

Campus Police

Our campus police are always around when you at least suspected it. Most of them are pretty cool though. If you are caught doing something you should not have been doing they will report you.
