Claflin University’s weather forecast is unpredictable with slight showers of irregular weather and a few storms of “I don’t know what to wear!” If that didn't make sense to you, then you know how the students here feel. The weather in Orangeburg will leave you with lots of bad hair days before you realize there is not much you can do when it comes to the ominous potential of Mother Nature. The weather can go from bright and sunny to cool and chilly to windy and dusty to freezing and rainy in a heartbeat! The best thing you can do to prepare yourself is to dress sensibly, but keep in mind that this method may fail on some days. In general, students try to dress as casually as they can for the social atmosphere without being affected by the surrounding atmosphere.
The temperature rarely drops below 60 degrees in the fall, but it can shoot up to the 90s in the summer and then down into the 40s in the winter. The sunny days provide beautiful weather for taking nice strolls outside, but when the pollen starts yellow-coating everything around campus look out if you have allergies. Students are always complaining about migraines, headaches, and sinus problems when the weather gets topsy-turvy. The best thing you can do is always eat healthy, stay indoors when you necessary, and always keep an umbrella handy.
