College Prowler Take

Alcohol is by far the most prevalent drug on campus. There is beer at most major parties, and although at the biggest parties there is generally a pretty secure carding system, the same cannot be said for smaller dorm parties. Students of legal age are allowed to consume alcohol in the dorms (except for Stark Hall), and most students do drink to some degree. For the most part, CMCers who choose to drink do so in a pretty responsible way, and the culture is such that people look out for one another.

Marijuana is by far the most prevalent controlled substance on the campus, but strict school policy keep users discreet. Students caught with marijuana by Camp Sec or residential advisors face serious consequences from the school, or in the worst case, from local law enforcement. Alcohol and marijuana are the only drugs that students risk coming into contact with incidentally. A few students do use more dangerous drugs like cocaine or ecstasy, but they are few and far between, and their use is well hidden. Most importantly, at CMC there isn’t any peer pressure to do anything any student doesn’t want to. Students are too concerned with their own lives and their own fun to meddle with other people’s interests.

It's California. Some people smoke a lot of weed, but some people don't. Apart from pot, though, there isn't really much of a drug scene.

I would say there is definitely a fair amount of marijuana. Every time I walk into my dorm, it reeks of the stuff. While it's here, I don't think that it's a huge part of campus life. In terms of other drugs: I'm sure they exist here, but I haven't come across them.

Illicit drugs are not really used. There is some smoking, but that is typical of a college. It's all about drinking.

Drinking is very popular and hard to avoid if you want to. Mostly people smoke, but there is more of an underground drug culture as well among upperclassmen.

I would say that weed is the only drug you really hear about on campus. The campus is really relaxed, and you'll often see people smoking a joint on their balcony or keeping bongs out on their desks in their room.
