College Prowler Take
Claremont McKenna’s campus is well groomed and maintained, almost to the point of obsessive compulsiveness. The grass is mowed religiously, the planters are replanted seemingly every month, and building interiors are spotless every morning. The oldest buildings on campus are only 60 years old. Mostly beige, utilitarian structures with red Spanish tile roofs, the buildings aren’t spectacular, but they aren’t eyesores either. There is a very cool new dorm in the final planning stages, so students who end up on the south side of campus can expect some noise through 2008. The Five College Consortium shares many facilities, which means more for all. The library is huge, there are six dining halls available, four cafés, a coffeehouse, three fitness centers, and an impressive theater complex. Claremont’s workout facility is full of modern machinery donated by an alumnus who founded the LifeFitness Corporation. The Emett Student Center houses pool tables, a café called the Hub, satellite TVs, and the student store. While it’s easy to stay on campus for entertainment needs, students will have to tap the surrounding area for most other basic needs like groceries and restaurants. The student government does provide a shuttle to Target and Best Buy on some weekends, but generally, students are responsible for their own transport, and most students don’t find getting the things they need off campus particularly inconvenient.

The student center is nice, with pool tables and TVs, but the food isn't as good as at the Pomona or Scripps student centers. The library is excellent, and so are the many computer labs and reading rooms on campus.
