Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

When students are ready to go off campus to eat, most head down to the Village. The Village offers some great food, but not a great variety. The Village is the only off-campus food that is a walkable distance away. There is a fair amount of variety a short drive away, but except for the occasional In-N-Out run, students either eat on campus or in the Village.

The Village is not exactly budget-friendly, with several upscale restaurants. Viva Madrid, Tutti Mangia, and the Harvard Square Café are all amazing, pricey restaurants that are best visited on special occasions/when relatives visit. For those on a budget, there are a few options, but not many. Heroes (a local bar/grill), the Mixing Bowl (Thai food), and Round Table (Pizza) are all wallet-friendly restaurants. Most students eat in dining halls and go out for dessert/coffee/smoothies.

There are several coffee shops in the Village (both chain and mom-and-pop shops) which are frequented by students. Jamba Juice and the Claremont Juice Company both have delicious smoothies/fruit drinks. The most popular way to spend cash in Claremont is easily frozen yogurt. There are three fro-yo places within walking distance of campus—21 Choices, Yogurtland, and Razzle Dazzle. Everybody has a favorite (mine’s 21 choices) and any day at any time, they are sure to be crowded with students.

Pretty Good for a Small Town. Pricey, Though.

"The Village" (as downtown Claremont is called) has a surprisingly high number of great, independent eateries packed into a few small blocks. Students mostly just eat on campus, though. The Village's restaurants are mostly there for when your parents are in town and you want to have a nice meal with them (especially if they're paying).

The Village

the village has some good small shops and fast food places if you really want to get off campus, but some things are kind of expensive. however, most people just eat in one of the dining halls in the 5c's, its so easy and offers so much variety.
