College Prowler Take
Claremont McKenna is so safe that students like to joke about the “CMC Bubble” that shields them from the real world. This is partly because Claremont has found an ideal balance with the consortium security, so Campus Security (Camp Sec) is always there when students want them and rarely there when students don’t. Although there are security phones all over campus and a student escort service, you’d be hard-pressed to find a student who’s used either. Dorms require ID cards to enter at all times, and any buildings open past 10 also require an ID swipe to get in. In the dorms, most students live with their doors unlocked and open to make it easier for friends to come visit. There is the occasional laptop or bike theft, but even those are rare, while serious crimes are almost nonexistent.
Claremont students don’t find themselves walking to very many places off campus, other than the Village, and that walk is mostly through other safe college campuses. Students are in their cars to go anywhere else, which means that kids aren’t getting mugged on the street. Off-campus parties are rare, but when they do happen, the student government often provides a bus, or kids drive themselves. As a group, CMCers take drunk driving seriously (there’s no faster way to end a fun night), and are good about choosing designated drivers. There are a few nastier-looking areas a bit south of Claremont McKenna, but there is no reason to go there at night, and they are totally safe during the day.

CMC is probably one of the safest campuses. Apart from the rare reported cases of stolen laptops, there is virtually no crime on campus. If you do feel unsafe at night, you can always call campus security and get escorted back to your room in a golf cart.

The school is very safe. Any conflicts that arise are usually alcohol-induced events. High school students in the area are notoriously well-known for crashing our parties.

CMC is pretty safe, but there has been a lot of robberies, too. We do have Camp Sec that drives around.

While I've heard of the occasional mugging and townie-related fights at parties, I've never witnessed crime on campus and always felt safe walking back to my dorm at 4 a.m. However, some of my friends have had electronics stolen from their rooms when they left doors unlocked.

Crime is really mild at CMC. Kids sometimes leave their doors unlocked and have their computers stolen, but I haven't heard of any real crime besides theft. Campus safety is pretty much a joke. They don't really hold any authority, so you can't really get in trouble. I have always felt really safe on campus, so there really isn't much to worry about.
