The various sports teams at Clark Atlanta rarely get any attention from the general student population. The only major event that draws sizable crowds is the annual Homecoming football game. During Homecoming weekend students that may have not even participated in any Clark Atlanta sporting event come to support the Panthers and the mighty marching Panther band. The Panthers are a part of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and a Division II member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Although the winning margin is usually low, the Panthers normally find some way to pull off a win so the gathering alumni and fans are able to celebrate the weekend with pride.
Clark Atlanta University has a good athletics department; unfortunately, most students are either unaware or choose to not support their fellow Panthers. The athletic department consists of six teams for men and six teams for women. Clark Atlanta University also offers intramural programs in basketball, softball, track and field, and volleyball that surprisingly even fewer people seem to know or care about. Although the total school spirit for the various sporting teams is low, many of the students that are actually involved love their teams and have high expectations of growth in the athletic department.

A
Students at CAU seem to be very supportive of the many athletic teams that we have. Although the most support is given to the football and basketball teams, I feel that other teams do receive support as well. As a whole, I feel that the CAU athletics department is doing a wonderful job at selecting team members |
