College Prowler Take

Clark Atlanta’s main eatery, the Café (William H. Crogman Dining Hall), provides what seems to be a variety of food for the first few months, but then suddenly the meals become extremely repetitive. For breakfast, the Café offers everything from fresh fruit to cereal to hot-buttered grits (yummm!!!), sausage, eggs, make-it-yourself waffles, and some of best bacon the South has ever seen. For lunch, the Café usually offers its beloved students a chance to journey outside the U.S. with their spin on different cultural tastes such as Chinese lo mien or Italian spaghetti with homemade meatballs. For dinner, the cooks usually attempt to make a meal that sort of reminds you of home-cooking. The best thing about the Café is that for lunch and dinner you can always choose to eat pizza, a burger and fries, salad, or breakfast food, if you’re not into the special meal that they have planned for the day.

The Panther Den, Bumstead Hall, and Jazzman’s are food courts
that are only open at certain times of the day. Bumstead Hall offers similar food to the Café, but they provide a different selection of home-style meals that include (but are not limited to) fried pork chops, tacos, and cheese dip. Bumstead also hosts a semi-annual party/barbeque that gives Clark Atlanta students time to fellowship while they eat. Jazzman’s does make what many students consider Atlanta’s greatest smoothies, along with brownies, cookies, and other in-between-class snacks.

The main dining place is an all-you-can-eat buffet, so you never really go hungry unless you’re a very picky eater. The Café is always crunk, so it’s almost like another little campus hangout spot.

Food Isn't Great

B-

The food at CAU isn't something you would enjoy eating, I feel like the fact that freshmen are required to get the most expensive meal plan is bitter. Being a freshmen I rarely eat in the cafe, due to the fact that I live in the suites which has a microwave and refridge.

Now that I live off campus I don’t really eat on campus. I must admit that I miss walking to Bumstead every night for chicken fingers or for their special barbeque nights. I’m getting hungry just thinking about that barbeque.

My favorite time of the year is when Bumstead has their infamous ‘Barbeque Night.’ The whole night is cool because they play music and have decorations up. The barbeque is surprisingly good, but I wouldn’t expect it to be nasty because the cooks look like they can throw down. Bumstead also has some good chicken strips and fried pork chops.
