Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

At first glance, the facilities at Clark Atlanta University may not appear to be the most outdated buildings in the South, but they could certainly stand some renovations. The gymnasium and some of the classroom buildings on campus could truly be considered state-of-the art structures—if this was the early 1920s. The VW Henderson Gymnasium Center seems to be the most outdated building on campus. With its dusty, ragged appearance, it’s no surprise that this building is conveniently left off the campus tour list. Many students often complain about classroom sizes being too small and that there are a few buildings that still need simple things like air conditioning and dry-erase boards. Many students feel that some of the freshman dorms should also be placed on the “tear-me-down and build-me-up” list because they are small and old-fashioned. There are a few other spots on campus that might need a few construction touch-ups here and there, but none are in horrid condition.

The most popular spots on campus are very attractive both inside and out. The Carl and Mary Ware Academic Center is one of the newest and most attractive buildings on Clark Atlanta University’s campus. The mass media arts department has a building that has been newly renovated and equipped with a fully-functional filming set. Other great buildings on campus are the Bishop Cornelius L. Henderson Student Center, and the Robert W. Woodruff Library.

Ath. Facilities

The athletic facilities such as the gym and workout room serve their purposes, but they are not much to look at. For all the money the school charges for tuition and room and board, you would expect better facilities for the amount of money you pay. One good thing is the new football field, but it would be nice if their was a separate practice field, especially for the summer.

Favorite Things To Do

Between classes, you can exercise in the gym or the workout room, study in the library, browse the Internet in one of the computer labs, play pool or video games in the rec room, or chill with other AUC students on the Strip without ever leaving campus.

Most students usually chill on the Strip between classes or during their free time. Every Thursday, local venders come to the Strip and sell their products that may range from framed art to fashionable clothing. Jazzman’s has a wonderful selection of quick in-between-class meals that most students usually take advantage of several times a week.
