College Prowler Take
Atlanta is a city that is full of bright lights, ambitious people, and constant movement. Clark Atlanta University is very fortunate to be located in the heart of Atlanta’s banging city life. But being in this electrifying city can sometimes cause certain aspects of college life not to be as domineering. Although Greek life at Clark Atlanta is not as strong as it is in smaller cities, fraternities and sororities are alive and well, and students most definitely will hear their share of Greek calls sporadically. Even though going Greek may not be a social requirement, as it is on other campuses, there are still very exciting and developmental experiences that one can have if he or she decides to enter that realm. Clark Atlanta University houses a variety of Greek-letter organizations ranging from academic, service, band, and social. Some of these noteworthy organizations established chapters on campus as far back as 1923 and are still providing community and social services through their seminars, fundraisers, Greek Week events, and parties.
Generally, Greeks and non-Greeks get along very well, simply because non-Greeks have plenty other social activities at hand. During the year, most Greek-letter organizations will post events or informational fliers that will provide students with an opportunity to get a better understanding of the membership selection process. Greek organizations at Clark Atlanta University take their membership selection very seriously, and prospective members are often forewarned that the organization is a lifetime commitment.

I don’t really pay attention to the Greek life because it really doesn’t interest me. To me, fraternities, sororities, and Greek life in general distract students from the major objective of college. I like the fact that they perform services for the community, but I feel that they should be more focused on getting good grades and graduating with a good job. |

Clark Atlanta University...
Clark Atlanta University definitely has the stereotypical Greeks. With no disrespect to any of the organizations, the AKAs are mostly light-skinned girls with long-straight hair that dress for the runway everyday, the Deltas are typically dark-skinned girls who are crunk, the Alphas act like they’re better than everyone else, the Kappas are wannabe pretty boys, and the Omegas are wild and loud. |

Greek life at CAU is probably not as good as other schools like Howard or Texas Southern University. For some reason, CAU Greeks are just really boring. At HBCUs in Texas, Greeks will just start strolling for no particular reason other than just to stroll. I have also noticed that there are not many Greek functions or programs on campus. |

The Greeks at Clark don’t play a major role in just about anything at Clark. The only Greeks that have seminars and fundraisers consistently are the Deltas. The party scene on campus is completely dead. Atlanta is such a big city that the Greeks really can’t compete with some of the elaborate parties that are thrown many times a year. |

I believe the Greek organizations play an important role on our campus. Pledging a Greek-letter organization is a great way to network within the professional community. |
