Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Atlanta’s crime rate has declined tremendously over the past few years, but that is definitely not a reason to come to Atlanta with a suburban-life mentality. Although the campus police are stationed 24-hours a day at the main entrance and exit, it is still surprisingly easy for anyone that appears to be halfway decent to gain access to the main campus. When students decide to attend Clark Atlanta University, they quickly learn where to go, when to go, how to go, who to go with, and what to do when they arrive. The AUC shuttle bus is the safest and most convenient way to get to the local MARTA station, fast food restaurants, or stores to pick up goods. Whether it is day or night, Clark Atlanta students are advised not to venture off-campus without the companionship of a friend.

In most areas outside the campus, students must exhibit caution and use common sense to avoid everything that may cause trouble. One of the main tips that RAs give to new students is to lock their rooms so that valuable items have little to no chance of getting stolen or “borrowed.” The resident administration has helped to ensure safety by setting up scanners at the front door of all dormitories, allowing only residents to gain entrance. It’s not unlikely to see a little friendly competition or rivalry between freshman dorms and other colleges in the AUC. Although the surrounding areas may appear to be slightly dangerous, Clark Atlanta provides a safe environment for students who utilize common sense.

Campus Safety

On campus public safety does a good job with keeping students safe. I have never felt unsafe or even had to call for any issue.
