Educational Experience that can only be understood by attending

Very Southern

It's been a journey but overall I enjoyed it with the Greek life, constant parties, southern hospitality and etc.

Que Dogs Run the Campus!

The Ques host all the best parties and they pretty much run the campus you see them everywhere stepping in those gold boots.

Housing in Metro-Atlanta

Atlanta is a very busy city, and housing around the area of Clark Atlanta is cheaper than actually housing on campus. Most students move off campus beginning their sophomore and junior year to save money.

Diversity on CAU's Campus

Clark Atlanta University is a historically black college, so the students are predominantly African American. We have some hispanics and asians, but everyone is accepted and treated like family. For instance, last year our class queen, "Miss Freshman" was a hispanic young lady, and to win, the whole freshmen class voted.

Off-Campus Living..Thumbs up

In no way does the school provide any assistance in finding off campus housing but it is best to do so after freshmen year. There plenty afforable apartments near campus that cost less then semesterly room & board. If possible, I'd advise off campus living to all students.

CAU- My Experience..,

CAU is a historically black college, so there are mainly African American students. I dont actually start school until August 16, 2011. Therefor, I can only go by my orientation. Everyone seemed open minded, willing to help, and concerned. Thus far, it was a great experience and I cant wait to start school.

Dining in the AUC

Clark Atlanta University has Croghman Dinning Hall which will be the most frequent spot for most freshmen. Wednesday is the only day of the week all students rush into Croghmans because its called "Fried Chicekn Wednesday!" Otherwise the upperclassmen usually utilize the Panther Den which is right outside of the Croghman Dinning Hall and serves burgers, hot and cold subs,skinny fries or waffle fries, chicken wings, chicken tenders, they have a variety of salads, and deli sandwiches including simple PB&J snadwiches, premium fruit cups, smoothies, and I almost forgot they serve breakfast sandwiches as well with the choice of bread (biscuit, bagel, or crossaint). the den is where generally freshmen can spend their flex dollars, especially during the times the cafe is closed but they need to grab a quick bit before class. Egg roll corner I believe is everyones first friend when trying to find food outside of school because it is right across the street. Their sugar donuts are a must try. Off campus within walking distance on MLK Dr are numerous places to receive student discounts on soul food at Busy Bee's, healthy dinning can be bought from Mr. Everythings and Supreme which is right next door. Then there is Planet Wings & things who also carries BIG Burgers, which will fill you up without the purchase of any side items and all of these places have nice comfortable sit-in environments. If you go down to the end of the street you will find the basic fast food places such as McDonalds & KFC. Last but not least there is also a Johhny's Pizzeria opening up next door to McDonalds...and these are just the places in walking distance, living downtown the places to eat are never ending. But of course if you want to be lazy and order in there is Papa johns and a few chinese places who will be sure to pass along their contact information as sson as you arrive on campus.

Freshman Year College Dorms

Clark Atlanta University has wonderful dormmitories for freshman, sophmores, juniors, and seniors. As a first time freshman, I stayed on campus. I lived in CAU Suites, a beautiful dorm building. As the year progressed, students began to destroy the envirnment and make the dorms dangerous. CAU tried their best to keep students safe, and they did. Overall, the dorms are fantastic!

Oh Dear the Football and Basketball.

I love my school's enthusiasm when it comes to sports, but it can become a bit too much. I really feel if the school showed as much support for other sports and club activities we would be a lot more versatile.

Club Woodi Aka the Library

MAC BOOKS!! I love the library. It is great atmosphere. Can you focus? Yes and no. Although the libraries have nice computers it is limited and very distracting. The good aspect about the computers is that they do have upgraded versions of programs. Especially for the Mass media and Business majors.

There Are Funny Looking People Here

some days i just look around and see a room full of ugly people..some days are good some days are just weird

Diversity

Good Academics

the academics at my school are really great. the professors make sure that students get what they need so when they start their career, are beyond the rest. Clark atlanta provides students with a safe environment and a good learning institution.

Greek Heritage

Greek life is probably the most prominent here on campus. The own most of the attention from the student body. The way that they carry themselves and the amount of involvement on campus makes others want to join and/or emulate them. They are highly respected in a positive way.

Biology Is a MAJOR Deal

I am proud to say that I attend Clark Atlanta University. Clark has an excellent staff, for instance, my biology lecture teacher has so many personal connections with professors from all over the country and she knows the Director of Admissions at Duke University. There are many programs to help students succeed, including math and english labs with FREE tutors. I have so many opportunities at my school, especially in my major because my school has an awesome research program. I have the chance to work with the research lab to help develop a possible cure for prostate cancer.

Greeks Are HUGE !

Greek Life is probably the biggest activity on campus. You see greeks everywhere, everyday. They host events every week. They're really involved in almost every on campus and even certain off campus events. Greeeks are huge.

We Rock!

At my school, we have a lot of Panther pride. We are very spirited and supportive. Everyone is very nice and friendly. We have several different dance teams, clubs and different organizations. I'm apart of one of them.

Cafeteria Vs Den

The cafeteria is okay, but most of the students on campus either do not eat there, or do very seldom. The Den however is where you can use felx dollars and has good food. It has grill options, deli options, and original fresh smoothies. This is where majority of the students who eaton campus choose to dine.

Geography

The one thing i can say about the student attending my school is that they are from all over. Domestically and Abroad, there are a vast amount of students from different places with different views which helps you as a person become less myopic.

Greek Life

Greek life is another form of networking. It is a benefit to join but also a disadvantage as well. some people feel that it is important for them to join in order for them to be somebody, but that is not the case. All you need is yourself and your own mind and you will be fine.

Professors

I came to Clark Atlanta University because it is a Historically Black College in Atlanta, Georgia. The professors i get assigned to always make sure you pass. They actually care about your feelings and they are always available for help.

Greeks Are Everywhere

Th Greek life is definitely something that dominates our institution. Majority of events that take place on our campus basically revolve around the fraternities and sororities. It is a very good experience because one learns about how to occupy time while on campus and how to make a change within the community. Of course as a student not being involved in a sorority, networking gets pretty challenging.

Guys and Girls on Campus

Clark Atlanta University was founded and always known as a private institution. Over the years I will say that majority of the students never fail to represent our institution. However, there a quite a few students that feel of representing our institution as of not applying to them at all. Majority of students will represent Clark Atlanta by dressing appropriately and not only for themselves, but for one's appearance towards others. Although my diversity towards other students is quite open, as an institution, the diversity teaches the same. For example, Clark Atlanta University is a part of the AUC, which combines with the fine institutions of Spelman College and Morehouse College. Within the AUC, it has taught one to really be open and be united. However as a first year student I have witnessed that the unity sometimes does not follow. It is for certain that with more events, that will bring back the unity.

Atlanta

Clark Atlanta University is located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta is a very metropolitan urban city with lots to do. There are great cultural activities, amazing night life and many fun things to be done. There are many major shopping malls, Atlanta has one of the worlds largest aquariums and the restaurants are fantastic!There is also much opportunity for internships and entry level job opportunities for students in the are . The city is very diverse and has many other colleges in the area so its almost like a college town in a big city environment.
