College Prowler Take
At Clark, sports seem to exist in another world. Clarkies are peripherally aware of them, they know that games and practices must take place, but in their hearts, they really don’t seem to care. There is no huge football team to rally behind, and the basketball and baseball games are usually attended by people involved in some other sport at Clark. The lack of enthusiasm for the sports teams has nothing to do with their records—most Clarkies are totally unaware of each team's records. But to the people who are play sports, the team seems to encompass their entire life. They wake up early to practice together, eat together, take many of the same classes, then practice again, eat again, and in many cases, room together, as well. This leads many people to say that athletic Clarkies take their sport far too seriously in relation to the rest of the student body. If you dream of widespread popularity, fans, and praise for your athletic accomplishments, do not come to Clark. For the less serious, yet still athletic, there are intramurals. To many Clarkies, it seems that IMs are the real sports action on campus since those competitions are the ones you are most likely to talk about with your friends or overhear people discussing in the UC. Clarkies love their IM seasons and look forward to them every year, sometimes with sinister and dramatic plans in place to assemble the perfect team and score an undefeated record. It never gets too serious, though, and that’s how Clarkies like it, since academics or relaxation are easily the top priorities for most students.

Sports aren't big here—I wish they were. People on the teams seem to care though, but they don't get much support.

I don't follow the sports here at Clark, but many of my friends play or have played intramural sports and loved it. I remember that varsity soccer was big at the beginning of the year, and varsity basketball seems to have a pretty large following.

I don't know anything about the sports teams, but I know there are a lot of intramural teams that seem to have fun. Clark isn't a big sports school, but there are still varsity teams.

The varsity sports are good for a Division III school. The players seem really involved in their teams, and people usually take intramurals seriously, too.

The only relevance athletics holds at Clark is that the sports houses turn into Clark's version of frats on the weekends.

Gyms and Facilities
- Dolan Field House - The Dolan Field House opened in 2003. It is used in support of the fall and spring sports teams and for some intramural activities. It has indoor practice space, a training room, and team locker rooms for Clark teams and visitors.
- Granger Field - Built alongside Dolan in 2003, Granger Field is used for field hockey, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, and intramurals. It has six turf tennis courts used for matches, practices, recreational play, and tournaments.
- Kneller Athletic Center - The Kneller is the main hub for all student athletics. It houses three basketball, four racquetball, and two squash courts, fitness center, separate free-weight room, upstairs dance room with mirrored wall, and 25-yard competition-sized pool. It also has bleacher seating for 2,000. Located between the two residential quads, this is the place to go to work out, run, or just work up a sweat.

Most Popular Sports
“Popular” is a too strong a word to use when referencing sports at Clark. Baseball and basketball are mentioned commonly in passing, but no one ever seems know their season record. Most people get more excited about the IM sports, particularly volleyball. However, IMs are similar to varsity in that they also do not garner any support outside of the players themselves.
Most Overlooked Teams
The sports teams at Clark are all overlooked. However, the crew team probably has the worst hard-work-to-recognition ratio of them all. Many people don’t even know that Clark has a crew team. Next in line would be all the female teams. Baseball and men’s basketball get little, if any, attention from the student body, but the female teams are paid even less attention.
Best Place to Take a Walk
Elm Park
Did You Know? Both Dolan Field House and Granger Field are examples of Clark’s strive toward expanding and renewing their facilities. Unfortunately, most of the student body does not care enough about the school’s athletic endeavors to feel that their construction was warranted. They remain mostly unused by the average student.
