College Prowler Take

Not only is drug use not a large problem among Clark students, most of the drugs seem hard to find. Legal drugs like alcohol, caffeine, and some prescription drugs can be found all around campus at any time of the year. However, abuse of these particular substances seems to be extremely rare, at least to the point that no one ever hears about someone having problems. Marijuana is the main illegal drug that one might encounter, but the chances of being pressured by another Clarkie into trying it are slim to none. It is entirely possible for a Clarkie to get through their entire four years at the University without trying any substances, or even being around them for more than a few minutes. Like every other part of life at Clark, the attitude on drugs is, “If it’s your scene, then fine, but if not, I don’t care.” This is one example where Clarkie apathy plays a positive role.

For those who require assistance with possible substance abuse problems, Clark’s Wellness Outreach Coordinator provides risk assessment, counseling, and education in order to help prevent the stresses of college life from developing into unhealthy, destructive behaviors.

Eh, it depends on what group you are in. If you don't hang out with the drug crowd, you never see it. Hookah smoking and drinking are a bit more obvious.

Most people who use illicit substances tend to use marijuana. I am sure there are students who use and abuse other substances, but marijuana tends to be the dominant drug alongside alcohol.

Did You Know?

Clark students are big on hookahs, and there are even hookah bars nearby. So, come summer and even fall, there will be students out on the Green smoking hookah because it’s legal in Massachusetts.
