Travel around Clark is as easy as walking around the block, since pretty much everything you might need is actually within a few minutes walk from school. However, there will be times when you need to go to the mall, the movies, downtown, or another school, and walking will just not cut it. For anything close to Clark, the Student Escort van handles trips rather efficiently. The Consortium Shuttle will take you to many other schools in Worcester for free during the day. Farther than that, and you will need to use public transportation to get around the town. The Consortium Shuttle also takes students to the Worcester Art Museum, the Worcester Public Library, and even the Union Train Station. Also, on Fridays and Saturdays the Woo Bus takes students to Shrewsbury Street and other places around Worcester for free. Lastly, the Student Council van takes students to malls and movie theaters on Friday and Saturdays for free, as well.
The city buses are a great resource, and freshmen should familiarize themselves with the routes and times as soon as possible. Worcester and the surrounding towns can be easily navigated, so long as you make the effort and have the time to spend waiting for the bus. If Boston is your destination, the commuter rail (Amtrak) connects the two cities directly and can be gotten to easily with a short bus ride. For all points west, you could take the Greyhound bus. In the end, however, the option that will save you the most time and effort in traveling to all of these places is having your own car. The bus schedule begins to thin out toward the evenings, and it can sometimes take hours to pick you up from distant locations. Cabs can be expensive by yourself, and they can become a sketchy ordeal. And, finally, all the public transportation takes much more time per trip than with a car.
