Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Clemson offers an amazing college experience. Students return for the rest of their lives to see how the campus has changed and to support the Tigers. Although it is located in a small town, the school is big enough that there is never a dull moment, and the location only makes the student body closer to one another. As anyone who has been to Clemson knows, the students’ blood here is orange, and the Clemson spirit is contagious for almost anyone who attends.

Can't Beat It!

The weather here rocks! Yes it's hot in the summer, but there are two lakes nearby and plenty of pools at the off campus apartments to cool you down! Fall and Spring are beautiful - with the plentiful trees, the colors during these seasons can't be beat! You do need a bit of everything when it comes to clothes, as there is plenty of rain in the spring, heat in the summer and chilly nights and days in the fall and winter. And did I mention every fall the Clemson Tigers play football! You just can't get a better experience with a fall football game, tailgating and a gorgeous fall day.

Parking Could Be Better, but....

There is always parking on campus, but you may have to park very far away and take the CAT bus, which will drop you off close to your destination. Be sure to get to campus about 20-30 minutes early if you're driving! Permits are expensive ($100+) and tickets can get costly if you wait past 10-15 days to pay them. If you live on campus or in an on-campus apartment, you don't need a car.

Relatively Smooth Process

Financial assistance for my first year at Clemson was okay. It definitely could have been better. However, the process was smooth with everything done online. Soon after FAFSA's are processed by the school, they email you about your financial aid for the next school year. You can choose to accept or decline any loans/scholarships. Throughout the summer, you should look out for emails in case they make any changes to your financial aid. By the end of summer they may give you more scholarships than they had originally awarded you at the beginning of the summer. Even if you accept the original award, you can accept the newer award.
