Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Security phones, police escorts, and lights all over campus help make Clemson a very safe environment for students. The annual Clemson Safe Walk involves students and members of the Clemson community who walk the campus and discuss ways to improve safety. Most students agree that Clemson is an extremely safe campus as long as you take the basic precautionary measures, like walking in a group after dark and locking your doors.

Clemson is a fairly large university located in a rural setting, which makes it an obvious target for theft by outsiders. However, most students will tell you they haven’t had any trouble, and there really isn’t too much to worry about. As long as you use common sense (lock up your bikes, cars, and apartments, and avoid walking alone at night), you shouldn’t have any difficulties with strangers or outsiders.

Safety on Clemson's Campus

I always feel completely safe walking anywhere on Clemson's campus at any time of the day, even in the middle of the night. Clemson police do have an escort service called Tiger Transit that gives rides to students when it becomes dark. Clemson is a small, quaint town with very friendly residents and students.

Taking an Extra Step

The safety here is great. Extra steps are taken to ensure that everyone stays safe. For example Tiger Transit is a busing system used after 6pm to take people to different places on campus. They also wait for you to get into buildings/cars. There is also safety patrol and the Clemson police that monitor campus and dorm halls during the day and night. Other security measures are taken, which causes the student body to feel secure on campus at all times.

Clemson Is Very Safe

Clemson is such a happy place that nobody fears shootings or rape, etc. However, the possibility exists that it could happen. We do have campus police who we will see occasionally. There are safety phones to use to call them. All students are given the phone numbers of places to call if they need help. The police department is located near the stadium and is just a phone call away. Also, the school provides Tiger Transit from 6 p.m to 6 a.m which is a service that takes students to desired locations so they won't have to walk in the dark.
