Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Security phones, police escorts, and lights all over campus help make Clemson a very safe environment for students. The annual Clemson Safe Walk involves students and members of the Clemson community who walk the campus and discuss ways to improve safety. Most students agree that Clemson is an extremely safe campus as long as you take the basic precautionary measures, like walking in a group after dark and locking your doors.

Clemson is a fairly large university located in a rural setting, which makes it an obvious target for theft by outsiders. However, most students will tell you they haven’t had any trouble, and there really isn’t too much to worry about. As long as you use common sense (lock up your bikes, cars, and apartments, and avoid walking alone at night), you shouldn’t have any difficulties with strangers or outsiders.

The campus crime is not bad. The police are always near if I need them. I feel very safe on campus.

Actually, I was was told Clemson University has one of the best rated security staff in the US. In any case, I don't feel like there's much danger in living on campus.

Safe for the Most Part

There are some instances where you find yourself darting as fast you can to your car or dorm if you live on campus. Strange people sometimes lurk around campus so make sure you are walking with someone especially in the after hours on those late nights in the library. Though, for the most part its a pretty safe scene and there are usually people walking around that time who could spot or help danger for you.
