College Prowler Take
Obvious to anyone who visits Clemson, life here revolves around the school. The towns of Anderson and Seneca are only short drives away, but few find them to be more interesting than the university atmosphere at Clemson. Some students say there isn’t much to do in or around Clemson, while other, more adventurous ones say they can’t get enough of the outdoor activities the region has to offer. If nothing else, Clemson has a golf course and an enormous man-made lake on the outskirts of campus. When students and alumni talk of the “Clemson Experience,” they aren’t talking about sitting in a classroom five days a week. The “experience” comes from exploring the area in and around Clemson and taking part in every opportunity to wear something orange. Even if you don’t like football (which is life at Clemson), the school and the surrounding area offer limitless opportunities if you’re willing to do a little searching. Greenville and Atlanta are great for the club/bar scene, and the Appalachian Mountains offer everything from camping to water skiing.

Clemson is definitely a ‘college...
Clemson is definitely a ‘college town.’ Without the school, there is not much to it. Downtown consists mainly of one street. Outside of Clemson there is not much to do; I can’t name any outrageously cool museums, clubs, or restaurants to go to. The one thing that’s great is gathering a group of friends and going camping, whether you go 20 minutes away or about an hour out to North Carolina. If you’re the type of person who doesn’t let a beautiful day go to waste, you’ll love Clemson’s Bowman Field. Walk out there for some ultimate Frisbee, football, or just relax on a blanket and read a book. |

The atmosphere at Clemson is addicting! The people are always so nice and whoever you pass has a smile on their face and a ‘hey’ as you pass. There are no other universities around, just a technical college. Stuff to visit: John C. Calhoun house, Sikes Hall, Death Valley—‘Where the Tigers Play!’ |

Clemson is a fairly small town...
Clemson is a fairly small town that has made itself into a great place to come to. People come from neighboring cities to party and go to sporting events. Anderson College (kind of a conservative Christian school) is about 15 miles away. Furman University is about an hour away, and University of Georgia (an awesome school as well) is about an hour away. I’m not really sure that I can suggest places to stay away from. That is something you’ll find on your own, I’m sure. |

It’s a college town atmosphere; everyone here is related to Clemson in some respect and understands the needs of college kids. Clemson itself is a small town; the school doubles the town in population, and on a football weekend, we have a city of 100,000 people. The opportunity to go to cities is always there, though. Atlanta and Charlotte are both two hours away. My favorite little city is Greenville, SC, which is about 100,000 people, and it’s about a half hour from Clemson. It’s got a bunch of good restaurants, some minor league sports teams, and some pretty good-sized malls. |

If you are looking for nightlife...
If you are looking for nightlife and clubs, this isn’t the school for you. Don’t get me wrong—it’s a total party school if you want it to be. It’s just that it’s more of a college bar and frat party scene and not a night club thing. |
