College Prowler Take

Students at Clemson love to party. The school was ranked as the number two party school by the Princeton Review, but with a school of only 13,000 undergraduates, a one street bar scene, and no fraternity/sorority row, some students wonder whether Clemson was deserving of the title. However, students find the atmosphere in downtown Clemson to be the best source of entertainment on the weekends because it is close to campus and there are a nice selection of bars and restaurants.

The most popular place to go for nightlife is downtown, no questions asked. Football season contributes significantly to the nightlife at Clemson, especially after big home-game wins. Although there are no clubs in the Clemson area, fraternities and apartment parties offer some alternatives to the dominating bar scene.

There are many apartment complexes...

There are many apartment complexes within walking distance of campus that have parties. House parties do not get busted often as long as nothing gets out of control. Downtown is very close to campus and has plenty of bars. Many of the bars have under 21 nights every so often. And most everything is in walking distance -- no cabs, no buses.

Tiger Town Tavern, Keith Street,...

Tiger Town Tavern, Keith Street, and TD’s, are the three big college bars . . . It’s cool because most of the bars are along one strip, real close to campus, so it’s within easy walking/stumbling distance!

The parties are the best—people are always nice and welcoming. Everyone at Clemson knows how to have a good time! Some of the good bars are the Bad Apple, Overtime, and TD’s.

Going Greek or being an athlete...

Going Greek or being an athlete provides you with lots of great parties to go to, especially in the fall because of football season. A nice plus when frat parties are off campus, they provide sober shuttles to and from campus. The spring calms down a lot, so hopefully by then, you’ve got your group of friends to hit the low-key apartment parties with. After a year, people pretty much want to go downtown more and enjoy the bar scene. Either way, you can have a great time

The first week or so you can go to any party you want pretty much anywhere, and people will welcome you with open arms. After that, you have to settle for fraternity/sorority mixers or know someone.
