With all the options off-campus, it’s a wonder that students eat in the dining halls at all. Students have a hard time naming a favorite restaurant because there are so many good choices—it may take year just to try each one once. Students say the locally-owned restaurants are their favorite, but there are also larger chain restaurants within close range.

It would be really hard to go hungry at Clemson with all the great off-campus choices. Even if you don’t have access to a car, there are a lot of good places within walking distance. The area offers something for every one of the 20,000 people at the University, just bring your appetite.

Downtown

Right off campus is a number of dining options. You can just walk right downtown, practically on campus so its not far, and there is a large variety or options from sushi bar to pizza places, even italian restaurants. And if you want to branch out just a little, you can hop in the car and drive about 2 minutes down the road and get pretty much any fast food you want plus some.

Mainly the Walk

There are plenty of places to go to, but they are kind of a longer walk to get to them. A student can look to walk like a mile just to get to a better of all the eateries. And going to the car and driving is the same hassle because most students cars are farther away (in the opposite direction if I may clarify) that the eateries are.

But cost is decent. Quality is similar to regular city restaurants.

Look at Downtown!

Clemson's actual campus has a few places that are good to eat regularly and some late night stops. However, downtown Clemson flows right onto campus, so a lot of students go down there for a new taste. There's a lot of variety and most of it is well priced. Cookout is a favorite because it stays open til 4 am! There's also a Starbucks and 3 Spoons (a froyo spot), right down the street that we love!
